I love watching the tour....but I am damn thankful for DVR. I couldn't imagine having to watch all 4 hours in real-time with commercials unless it is a mountain stage. On the flatter stages I mostly like to watch the interviews and of course the run-in to the finish line!

Bobke blows as a cycling analyst. It's like listening to Dennis Miller doing a MNF broadcast...I'm constantly hitting the mute button. Give me Phil and Paul any day of the week...

it's pretty good so far, I have a feeling it'll be a good year to watch it.

it's HD on VS on TimeWarner, so I'd assume so.

Yes it is, it looks pretty good, but the level of compression is starting to get on my nerves, it gets very muddy when you have a rapidly changing picture.

What do you all think of what happened today? Lance could be in yellow after team time trials. Whoo!

Awesome, my DVR recording cut out after 3 hours even though there was still a good 20km to go, so I've no idea what you're talking about.

    Great job DirecTV.

This is most likely because the Tour is live but your TV is set to stop recording at the time designated on the guide. You need to call Tech support or figure out how to manually set the recorder so it goes on past the stop time. I have mine set to stop one full hour after the guide says it will end.

The Tour today had me on the edge of my seat!
    Excellent!!

Tour de France - Armstrong demands Astana backing

    Eurosport - Mon, 06 Jul 22:19:00 2009

Tour de France legend Lance Armstrong said he must be backed by Astana after overtaking team leader and hot favourite Alberto Contador in this year's General Classification.

The 37-year-old Texan, returning to the race for the first time since his last win in 2005, went 19 seconds clear of Contador after the Spaniard was caught up at the back of the peloton on stage three.
"I am not okay with that theory saying there can be only one team leader," said Armstrong. "I have won seven Tours de France - I will have to be counted in."
The peloton split into two around 40km from the finish after a sudden burst of acceleration by Team Columbia-HTC in strong crosswinds which surprised nearly all the favourites.
"Whenever you see a team lined up at the front like that, you have to pay attention," Armstrong added.
"You know what the wind is doing, and you see that a turn is coming up, so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that you have to go to the front."
With no other big favourite in the front group, Armstrong's team-mates Haimar Zubeldia and Yaroslav Popovych eventually helped Columbia widen the gap.
"We didn't ride for a long time, and then at the end we put some guys on the front to ride but the vast majority of the work was done by other people," said Armstrong.
"I have won the Tour de France seven times, why wouldn't we ride at the front? That makes no sense why you wouldn't ride."
Astana sports director Alain Gallopin denied that there were problems within the team.
"There are no troubles at all in our team, it's even the contrary," he said. "If there had been Armstrong and (Saxo Bank's) Andy Schleck up front, that would have been a problem.
"There will be no problem tonight or tomorrow."
Contador said what happened was unlikely to change his fate.
"I do want to comment on the tactics of the team," he said. "Everyone can draw their own conclusions. Anyway, the Tour will not be decided with what has happened today. It's just a race incident."
Astana will ride a team time-trial on Tuesday and should they smash the competition, Armstrong could snatch the yellow jersey.
"Never say never," the American warned.

I think it's a little early for LA to be demanding total support. Let's see what AC has in his bag of tricks. LA got ahead today because of his experience more then his ability but it still counts and AC needs to learn from the master.

Damn watching this TT waiting for Astana's turn is nerve wracking!

Wow, what an exciting team time trial. Armstrong just missed over taking Cancellara for the yellow jersey. Astana kicked A$$ today! Stay tuned.

Really do you expect no one to discuss a race that finished because you have not seen it yet? Maybe you shouldn't click and read a post about a race that is finished for the day if you dont want to know the results. :?:

That seems quite logical, I would stay clear of a thread that could contain info I want to see or watch

I've already watched it. My post was a reminder to show some consideration to those who haven't and might click on a thread that has been (implicitly) about coverage of the TDF, not "live" results.
