Just gotta toy with you Red Wings fans:wave:...the rest of us are just jealous cause we get stanley cups about once every never, and the years you don't get 'em it's an off year!
Ha! All good...people are getting tired of seeing the Wings. Anyway, I'm afraid that their age (i.e. retirees) will make them average in a couple years. Who is your team? Thanks! Now I can turn off the TV until next season and ride more...
Now you're really gonna dislike me... Been a Devils fan since i got into hockey in the early 90's - one of my favorite games was the one where they actually lost to the rangers in 4ot in the conference finals the year the rangers won the cup, which really made me a devils fan. Though we've had some good seasons too...I guess I really don't have that much to complain about - the comment about the cups every so never was a little incorrect!
My wife's family is from Detroit. Her Grandpa is a huge Wings fan. I am very tired of the Wings being so good. As a Kings fan, it's rather annoying. Yawn, another Wings Stanley Cup win, what else is new?
im very proud of 'my' philadelphia flyers. they went from finishing in last place in the 06/07 season, to making to the eastern conference finals this season.
That was a REALLY disappointing series! Pens played for shite, good thing Fleury played out of his mind or that would have been pretty messy. The D backed up to the goalie when ever the wings came down and when they did get the puck they just dumped it. Of course when the wings get the puck they just keep it and dominate. The playoffs were pretty fun to watch this year until the finals
Congrats to the new Champs. Now for the lull between hockey and football, but at least the Cowboys are having training camp in Oxnard this year so I can look forward to that. <soapbox>It was nice to see Chelios go through the handshake line... He must only do it after his team wins the series though. The last 2 times they lost to the Ducks, he went straight to the locker room.</soapbox>
I don't dislike Detroit at all but it just seems that they have had more than a few cup victories and it somehow seems a little boring to see them just nail another. That being said they are an amazing team and they do it under the salary cap which is a lesson I wish the Kings would take a look at. One more thing. I am really impressed with Fleury. Just look at the shots on goal he faced compared to Osgood. Without him I think this would have been a four game sweep. Pittsburgh really didn't do anything to protect him.
I don't understand the dislike for Detroit (the City itself aside). They are the class of the league, year in - year out, with a core (Osgood, Lidstrom, McCarty, Draper, etc.) that seemingly has been there forever. People said they would be doomed with the salary cap. Hah! Truly worthy of the moniker "Hockey Town".
My point exactly. Someone in the Detroit org really did their homework and made the cap work to their advantage.
You really have to look at the back office for Detroit - they do an amazing job of recruiting. You can say they are old, but the have some freaking great young guys. They'll shed some of the old guys and probably come back stronger next year. It'll be interesting to see what Pittsburgh does in the off season, this experience really helped them, but they'll have to keep a bunch of super stars and work on getting some solid D. We were talking after our game the other night, the reason the Pitt D backed up so much is because they suck - just like us old guys still playing
