Do they provide State Park maps on the East side? I could grab a few and bring them with me on Saturday. I'm not riding with you guys, but we'll be rolling out about the same time if anybody wants one.

If you come in through the Chino Ranger station there are maps of the State Park.

Keep in mind Carbon Canyon is an OC county park... you can check and see if they have state park maps... I think at one time I got a map from the main office there.

If I'm not mistaken, you were able to climb the hills at the loop, so Chino shouldn't be a problem. Nothing too steep, more of a gradual long slope, think of the trail from Cholla to TOTY at Aliso woods, but a bit longer and not as steep.

True, I was. Unfortunately, I was off the bike from September until ~Christmas and have only been out twice. It is amazing how fast you lose all of that gain. That is why I haven't been back to the Loop. I know I can't clean it at the moment.

I did just pick up som 5.10s, maybe this is the ride to break'em in.

So on the eve eve of our soon to be glorious newbie ride, I thought I would post up what you have to look forward to on the way down from Four Corners. All though the footage is neither interesting or impressive, it will give you a good idea of what to expect.

    Enjoy!

I had the same situation happen to me the other morning. I was basically following a van of dude, workers, down the hill to the gate. Guy opens the gate, van goes through, locks the gate. I asked the rangers at CCRP if it was okay to ride Chino Hills and they said it was more than okay. There only advice was to watch out for fallen trees.

Then on my way out, I went to buy a parking pass. I asked a different ranger the same question and she told me that there aren't any state employed ranger type people that are regularly in the park and they probably forgot to take down the signage. I have ridden it five times in the January, sometimes actually saying hello to the state workers. Nobody has said anything besides "have fun"

I think we should be fine.

Should be nice weather, have a great ride. Maybe they need a volunteer to remove the sign?

Depends on how many times we stop. Probably closer to three. But, the good thing about this trail is that if you have a time you need to leave you can just turn around and it's all downhill so it goest quickly.

OK, I'm in on this ride. My first STR ride.... I missed the marshall canyon ride so I'm looking forward to meeting new people since I don't know anyone yet. I'll be on the lookout and I drive a black prius, any cars/people i should be looking for?

I'll hopefully see you all out there if I can get my daughter to come along with me. We will most likely be late and try to play catch up.
