As some of you know, when I first started riding I started at chsp. I attempted to ride telegraph from Brea to 4 corners. I never made it more than 3 miles before I ran out of gas and went home. Now that I've gotten some mileage under my belt, I still haven't forgotten that this place had defeated me twice. So I've decide to go back and finish what I'd started. I'd like to extend an invite to anybody that would like to join me on this ride.

The plan is to meet at Carbon Canyon Regional Park. Take telegraph all the way to 4 corners. Once there, we'll decide together on whether to take telegraph or a different trail back.

I've added the ride to the calendar.

Thanks for setting this up, STR has been lacking Newbie rides for a while. It's good to see some new blood and someone else stepping up to the plate!!!

Here's a suggestion for Newbie rides, bring name tags!!!

This is definitely one of my favorite trail. I started ride last July and this was my 3rd ride with my 35lb bike back then. The "False" flat on Telegraph got me good on my first ride there but I did made it to 4 corners. I ended up rode back to the parking lot on Telegraph but it sure felt a lot better coasting all the way down 6 miles! Last time I visited the park was last Thanksgiving weekend and it was nice.

I checked the ride calendar but it does NOT say what time we meet!? So what time is the ride and please add that to the calendar event?

    Thanks for organize the ride.

Looks like the same #'s as fullerton loop just more of a long gradual climb....I might try and make this one

Any extra climbing for the noobs that get to the top and still think their legs are fresh?

Telegraph, IMHO, is the best trail to start on in OC. It's really a nice trail. I was just there yesterday but had to cut things short as it started to rain. Hopefully it will be in great condition for you guys. I rode there with some family members who just started riding before all the storms hit and they had a great time, but were ready to turn around at the picnic bench. Beware that most of the climbs connecting from Telegraph to South Ridge or North Ridge (the two alternate trails to go back to the start) are quite steep and some of them are technical/tricky, so be careful. I think turning around and flying back is a lot of fun. But once you've mastered Telegraph and are ready for more, there are a lot of great trails in Chino Hills. Bovinian Delight is a neat trail, but is a bit tricky--it's a singletrack that leads from 4 Corners up to Southridge. If you find the climb up Telegraph to be challenging, you might want to wait before trying to ride Southridge as there are some steep climbing sections on Southridge. If you manage to hike-a-bike up to Northridge via Sycamore, you could pretty much just roll down (fly down) Northrdige back to Carbon Canyon, and North Ridge isn't as busy typically as Telegraph--which can get quite clogged with walkers, joggers and riders climbing up so you have to keep your speed reasonable especially on blind corners. Have a great time and be safe. I'll try to make it too, but it's not looking likely.
