I have to say, I'm pretty darn sore. Yesterday's 12 Hour was a lot of fun, as always. These races have such a great atmosphere, Jason and his crew do a great job with these events. I raced the 6 hour and it sure was a challenge, missed my goal but everything went great with my nutrition and riding. If I only trained for it...

I did the 2 man open class. I honestly think it is harder than the solo. The 100% efforts followed by being sedentary, eating and drinking and working on the bike for 45-50 minutes was hard. It was nice to be able to enjoy the venue though. The course was a lot of fun, if not tough, props to Jason for that. We ended up doing 12 laps. I'm also completely spent today. Looking forward to the next one.

The expert mens race was such a close race the entire day! I got sick on Thursday and woke up Saturday feeling horrible. I had already registered so I went out anyways to see what I could do. Glad I was able to partake in the action for a while. I started pretty far back, moved up to 4th, got dropped to 5th, moved back up to 4th, got dropped to 6th, moved back to 4th, moved into 3rd, fell back into 4th and pulled out after 9 laps at 5:30pm. It was exciting while it lasted!

I survived the day on a coke after every lap, chased by some pickle juice, a PB & J sangdwich every 3rd lap, and whatever gels I could gather up at the aid station.

My goal was 8 laps, as I just haven't trained enough for a 10+ lap effort this year.
I ended up with 9 laps and 4th in the +40 class. It's a great start to end of the season points.

I had a great time being a social butterfly on the trail. Ran into numerous friends and peeps. Kept a good attitude all day and kept moving forward.

Good job to the rest of the old goats, all making the podium.

Great race as always...a little shorter than last year per lap by about a half-mile...ended up tying the 5-person open team I challenged with 10 laps apiece. I figured that crashing going uphill twice...the first one was on the last switchback of bridges where I just laid in the shrubs for a minute...too tired to clip-out...and falling over in the sandy wash meant my night was over...I think I pulled 6th...trailed 5th in men sport solo by 17 friggin seconds. Nothing like 10 1/2 hours to separate two dog-tired shmucks by a third of a minute. The night laps I managed were a blast as always...no gas in the legs but 2100 lumens of battery powered goodness with the dust in the air makes all those downhills seem waaaaaaay faster than you're actually going. Too bad you have to climb to get to them.

I'm gonna see how the post-race post-day massage works out.

with 4 weeks of training/base milage. My goal was 6 laps and got my 6th lap in the dark. Could have done another in the dark but my helmet light failed on me and didn't want to go down the 1st ridge line w/ one light. Raced solo singlespeed on fully rigid 29er. I'm happy, my legs are better now but lower back still a bit stiff from wrenching the bike around those climbs. I really liked the course, super fun after the switchback and 1st ridgeline climb

    Congrats to everyone who participated!!!:clap::clap::clap:

It was great to see so many familiar faces having a great time! I had a great time going around and around again in the absolutely perfect weather!

I barely made my goal by less than 5 minutes before the cut off and it could not have been done without the awesome support of my pit crew and the cheering of friends!!!

What a day, congrats to EVERYONE!!!:bang::bang:

    Great Time

I rode my first solo endurance race yesterday at the 12 hours. Won the clydesdale division with 9 laps. Was hoping to get 6, wanted to do 7 and was going to be happy 8. But when I finished lap #8 at 7:15, I figured I could almost walk a 9th lap, which is pretty much what I did on the uphills. The course was a blast. Can't wait for June's race.

I was the one wearing the STR jersey. I think I pushed my body a little too hard, I've had trouble walking and eating today. I rode once last year on a 4 person team where we did 7 laps. Two consecutive laps was all I could do before my legs quit so riding beginner solo with my goal being to take my time and get 6 laps seemed reasonable.

Not good at pacing myself, there was still light after 6 laps. Decided to ride one more lap since I could get in before dark. On the way out, I made the mistake of looking at the standings and found to my surprise I was 2nd and not very far behind 1st. During the lap, I talked myself into getting the lights out of the truck. Then managed to talk myself into another lap during the next, then another. My last lap I was walking every hill, in the granny most of the time I wasn't walking, and frequently drinking from my flask of pickle juice wondering if I made an error in judgment thinking I had one more in me. Finishing that last painful lap brought me a 1st place finish.

All the encouragement from other riders on the course was great. Will I be out at the next one? Ask me when we're closer to see if I've forgotten how much this one hurt.

Me and Pinnacle10 and a couple of ringers ran a 4 man single speed team. We did 15 laps in 11hours and 43minutes. We won our class, were the 3rd fastest 4-man team period, and finished 7th overall for the race. I am wasted. Felt pretty good though all day. It was super fun and fast, and most everybody was really cool on the course. I had a great time and we will be back in June. How about that temperature swing though. Holy crap it was cold...then nice, and then Holy crap cold again.

What a great event and venue that Jason has put together. The weather was perfect and the course very fun.
My sons age 15 and 12 each ran in the junior solo class and finished 1st and 2nd with 12 and 10 laps respectively.
They had a great time, with the younger one just deciding on race day to give it a try.
In the pits I got to hang out with great people all day and keep everyone fed.

I got recruited at the last minute for a 4 person team, and had a blast. The general vibe at endurance events is awesome. Great event, and I'm sure that I'll return for more.

Lots of fun. I like the shorter course as well since my wife gets to see me more she doesn't get so bored so thats good. As stated before the weather was sooooo nice and then soooo cold. but a lot of fun. I really like these races as the riders are always so nice. I think next time im going to go for the solo 6 hours love the idea of being able to have my cocktails in the warm sun. haha good time see you guys at the next one.

    Spiderman killed it!

Hey Jordan44...your sons were impressive, to say the least. I was talking to your younger son going up a hill. I told him he was making us old guys look bad! He became my motivation actually...every time I stopped in my pit to get something to eat and refill my waterbottles, my buddies would say, "Spiderman (named after his jersey) is a lap up on you!" So out I would go, to try to catch the kid! He's a great kid and awesome rider. In June, I hope to match his 10! Just don't let him train too hard for the next one because I don't think I can do any more than that.

@ Jordan44, was really impressed with your sons. Would love to get my daughters out there and have them do a couple of laps.

Those are very nice photo's, do you happen to have any of 644 trying to look like I'm not suffering?
