Great seeing you too (been a while)!
A LUGE ride will happen in the very near future!

With regard to Geoman: He was happy with his 1st Place... Not overly emotional about his lap count! During a quick pit stop he (in the most humble of ways) said something about a 50 mile race being a sprint (he prefers longer races). ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME!!!

    Thanks Chris!

Like I said, I didn't know 'till the end. Felt kinda' dirty not saying anything. If I find myself in the same situation again, I'm going to ask them BEFORE the race begins whether or not they want to know the times...

Once again, congratulations to all who competed!

Damn. Sounds like a blast. Might have to make the drive down from NorCal for the next one.

Congrats to everybody who competed! Quite the feat!

That was a fun event! BIG THANKS to Dino for being the pit king! Your smiling face and help really made rolling in each lap fun! Very cool to meet geoman, krunner, and hotchkiss as well. Also thanks to Alison and Justin who showed me the course 2 days before - if I hadn't preridden, it would have been a lot harder, it was worth it to know I had ridden sections before esp when I saw people walking (usually thats enough to make me get off too!)

Lap 1: Fun! Except for the guy who was down on Tarantula. He seemed ok, and people were getting help so I went on. I gave that switchback the evil eye the rest of the day.
Lap 2: Still fun! Where'd everyone go? Very stretched out.
Lap 3: warming up and I ran out of water. Glad they had a tent out there with water.
Lap 4: Aosty caught me and smooched me on tarantula. I think I grinned the rest of the lap.
Lap 5: Gave up on bottles, put on camelbak
Lap 6: Felt good, just a few more hours to go. No idea of my place but figure I have a podium shot since not too many gals out. Sang led zeppelin and lady gaga on this lap on ambulance climb.
Lap7: Ok, Tired. The trail is getting chewed up. I hate slingshot. I hate it.
Lap8: Ok, now had to stop on bridges climb, feelign twitchy on the tech dowhills. Suns getting low and I down't have real lights so I call it last lap even though I technically had time.....just felt sure I'd crash on the crazy stuff in the dark..

Felt happy. After a while went to check the postings and holy creepers my name was first. Never seen that before. Everyone in our tent did well, amazing. STR represent!

This was not my first 12 hour race but by far my best.
    12 laps in 11.5 hours.
Pretty stoked and proud of my support crew. Without them I could not have done it, thanks Traci, Jun, Troy, Candace and Wendy!

Hey all. I know i saw some of you on the course. One of you, nameless, ate crap in front of me on the first or second lap, can't recall ; ) This was my first solo attempt, i was cooked after 8 laps, not sure if i played nutrition right. Going to hopefully exceed that in November! As was mentioned by a few, the course was a little more technical than the January race (which i did with a team). I crashed like 4 times, but damn glad i did it. I am more of a roadie/cyclocross racer, and only been mtb-ing for 2 years. Stoked on this endurance stuff though!:bang:

WOW! Pretty impressive to do 12 laps on any bike, let alone a SS, that course seemed like it would have been tough on a SS due to the many short, quick up and downs, not too many areas wher you could find the right gear to stay in and spin....never ridden a SS. am I wrong about that Clyde?

If there is ever a "fun/no pressure" team, I'll join in too!!! Maybe a team where each person only does 1 lap??? LOL....

Try hitting Ctrl + F5. Fetches a new version of the webpage (I had to do that too, sorry).

    * Proud wife moment*

12 freaking laps!!! 8 soloists out of 90 did 12 or more, the hubby was one of them AND did it with an ACL completely severed in April 10 and replaced in Oct. My husband ROCKED it!

    *moment over :)

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who cheered him on out there. He heard every cheer, he actually came in from one lap weepy as someone had talked to him on the course and told him how motivated they were by how hard he's worked (he's lost 50+ lbs since Jan). That one person gave him the strength to put another lap in. Neil is a people person and loves to make people feel good but you my friend gave that back to him! Thank you :)

Also ~ Super stoked for everyone who raced team or solo! Congrats on just being out there and doing it because no matter how fun it is, it's not easy and for sure not as easy as everyone thinks until they give it a try. You all should be so proud!

Yeah he rocked it pretty hard! I met him briefly at the start (pink rhinestones, Dopers Suck I think)... saw him several times going out while I was coming in for a lap. I was gaining on him lap 4 or 5... saw him up ahead on the switchback climbs, then on the descent he was gone. Almost caught on him before the Funner ridge, then gone again. Super strong rider. The mental strength required for 12 laps is impressive, let alone physical. Nice work Neil!
