For anybody who has been to Zion, do you have a preferred hotel? I saw there is a Best Western in Springdale. I have lays had decent luck with them, but I thought I'd see if anybody has a killer spot. It will be for April.

+1 on bumbleberry, I stayed there two years ago and loved it. However camp sites are much more fun.

I'd prefer camping, but I am going with my dad. He is getting older and wants a room.

How many nights to enjoy the area? Two or three?

How many days depends on how much your dad likes hiking. Tons of hiking trails no bikes on the dirt. http://www.utah.com/nationalparks/zion/zion_narrows.htm Part of the year you have to use the park buss to get in and out. So it is much better just to ride your bike in the canyon.

Since I always camp when I go to Zion, I cannot recommend a hotel/motel. But do go to Oscar's for a great burger.

The Watchtower(?) campground was really nice when we RV camped a couple of summers ago. Walking distance to town and shuttles, right on the Virgin river, and they were building new bathrooms so shouldn't be "gross" yet. :)

The Desert Pearl in Springdale is great. I have been there twice and will go back.

April? I suggest you camp on top of a mesa. Gooseberry has many nice campspot spurs. However, for thanksgiving, we splurged a little and stayed in the Best western Zion Park inn. If you want to spend a little more, I recommend it. They hooked us up with a free upgraded room for the bikes that hada kitchenette. bitchin views and there is this funky resturaunt is right across the street.
