thanks a bunch for the offer mottmcfly. I just might have to hit you up for a test ride sometime, especially if its a large and set up for a guy around 180 lbs? ;)

I do have a long time before i can think about affording a DH sled, especially one spec'd as i want. I guess i needa get a job in a bike shop or something

Cheers for the info, Dino! This will be a race specific bike I'm looking for to clear things up!

Thank you, Foesnasty, I appreciate that!

    Demo a Mongoose EC-D if you're so inclined :)

Pretty sweet rig for the price point. If I had one I'd let you ride it around

The next challenge is determining where racing is more important to you. Although Dino mentioned the Giant XO, he should have mentioned the Intense SlopeStyle, which is in the same catagory. I think the SlopeStyle would be great Fontana DH race bike (I can't say "is," because I haven't raced mine yet). But I can say that I'm more likely to race my SlopeStyle than my M3 at Fontana.

However, a SlopeStyle or an XO may not make a great DH race bike for Bootleg, where you'd want something with a bit more travel. Again, even a race bike will have compromises.
