For the 2008 racing season I will be reppin' a brand new YETI-ASR:bang:

My 5Spot is just not really race worthy so I decided I'm going to build up my 5Spot and get a race bike.

So the bike is 2007 medium with a carbon rear triangle. She weighs in at 25.5lbs.

I fitted the bike very aggresive for racing. The only thing I need to do is swap out the handlebars for some with less rise. A few keys thing I really enjoy on this bike is the Sram grip shift... Absolutely amazing stuff. After riding the grip shift I don't even know why sram makes triggers!! The X-0 grip shift is lighter and cheaper than triggers btw.

Also the Fox F100 is a great fork. Tons of adjustments and very plush for a 100mm fork.

My first race of the season is the Arizona State Champ series at McDowell. Here are some pics

Nice! Happy to see a number of STR folks get new bikes, rebuild bikes, and SS bikes for '08!

So, where'd you get that bike from? :-k

I work there too and I saw you come in today and last night,
But I don't think I got a chance to meet you.

I'm glad you love the bike.

I don't know if Matt told you,
But I have an ASR too and it's freakin' amazing!

Matt, you might want to try those bars as is for now. I've seen a lot of the racers boys running them just like that.

Thanks for the comments guys. Took it on its first ride at San Juan today.

The bike is great, climbs wayy faster than my 5Spot. This was the first time I nailed every switchback going up too!! Even the tight rocky ones were much easier on this bike. I felt just as fast going down, no need for 5inches of travel at San Juan.

i picked up the exact same bike about 3 weeks ago. It is amazing how well descends for a 4 inch travel bike.

I went with the XTR build kit, just under 24 LBS with pedals

i know what ya mean, that is why i love my superlight so much...i feel like i can descend 90% of the trails just as fast as i could on my dawg...and climbing on the SL is a bit easier and i feel a bit faster as well. (dont laugh at me and fast on climbs being in the same sentence)

ASR = Light weight, but it has a 69deg head angle with 100mm fork makes this bike sound like a real winner to me.
