This is for the Yeti fans.... http://www.littermag.com/2009/first-look-2009-yeti-team-issue-303-race-bikes/#comment-847
That turquoise RDH is sawheeet! I got to ride the R-DH at Fontana for three runs last Saturday. I want!:bang:
The DH-R has some strange rear suspension travel to it. I'd have to see someone cycle the rear suspension just to figure out how the shock and two rails work.
It is hard to picture at first, the top part of the shock is the stationary point, just above that point is the slider. When you picture both sliders moving at the same time just remember the shock travel is nearly vertical. Hope that helps. Jeff
I think the yeti guys would have a fit, but I agree. I'd really like to try out a the 303R sometime though. good looks, good looking geometry (and adjustable to boot, which is a big plus), and it's really lightweight too. I'm thinking somewhere around 35.5-36lbs with a not-to-crazy build on it...:-k
Agreed, the raw 303 (not R) is fugly. The turquoise 303R-DH is off the hook! The 303R is a single pivot. It is snappy and smooth to ride and gorgeous to look at. I doubt you're going to build it under 39lbs, however. The frame is 2lbs lighter than the regular 303 (the one with two rails). They really need to change the name, since only the letter "R" separates the two. Didn't Denver/Golden add 720 as an area code along with 303? Hmmm... That's not the "R," that's the regular 303. The "R" is single pivot with one rail.
I could see building a lightweight 303R quite easily. yeti says 10.5lbs frameset. boxxer WC, 823's on kings, 09 saints, and smart choices all around will get you to 36-36.5lbs pretty easy. then you can start doing ti/alloy bolts, silly things like selle italia SLRs, etc.
