The first time I met JSD was at the September 2008 STR Bike Maintenance Clinic.
I remember that first meeting like it was yesterday. For starters, JSD was not dressed like a mountain biker. He arrived 25 minutes early. He attended an event where he knew no one. His bike was the first on a stand. He was a man of few words. To top it off, his tires still had nipples on them! 8-[
JSD had a great time. He learned a lot. The following day, he attended his first STR (Thursday Fully) ride. A few days later, he attended his first Sunday morning ride. He has been riding with us ever since!
Why am I telling you this?
While attending the August 2010 Bike Maintenance Clinic, JSD was informed that his frame was bent. A few minutes later our mechanics informed him that his chain needed to be replaced... His derailleur had issues.. His brakes had issues... shifter issues... cable issues.... It was bad! #-o
Two days later I was approached by Dune66 and Fatguy1.
The conversation went something like this: "Hey man, we gatta' do something..."
After MUCH deliberation (i.e. research, asking the opinions of friends, weighing our options etc.), it was decided that JSD deserved a NEW bike! 8-[
What makes JSD so special?
-He is one of the nicest people I know
-Life hasn't been easy for him lately- never once has he complained
-When his car was in need of repair, he rode to work (early mornings... 25 miles round trip)...
During this time, he rode another 25 miles (round trip) in order to attend the Thursday NIGHT rides. During this same period, he rode another 25 miles (round trip) in order to LEAD the Sunday morning Fully Loop rides.
-According to my math, JSD has attended more Thursday/Sunday Fully Loop rides than anyone on the planet! According to that same math, JSD has attended more "STR RIDES" than anyone on the planet (no doubt about it).
If anyone deserves this, it's you!

JSD was overcome with emotion!
(I assure you, he wasn't the only one)
Every time I told him to smile, his eyes started to...
Fatboyone and.. a future downhill racer!
Lauterborn and his (4 year old) riding buddy
OTHRIDER, Jeschel, Fatboyone and Von Petrol
Mongo
Trish, Ed and Peter
Like I said, every time I asked JSD to smile, his (MY) eyes started to...
Brown Chicken Brown Cow and his two buddies!
PMortuary (after 3 days of P90X)
Mark's mood improved (considerably) the moment he read the sign
Carbonman riding solo today (no tandem.. no little Shuga)
First NON teary-eyed smile of the day
No one was going to catch JSD... not even AJ!
Tandem
David / BDB (aka Brownie)
JSD and his CLIMBING machine
Mary Mary
JSD posing with three knuckleheads
(Thomaswildchild, Peter and Monstertiki)
Thanks guys!
To be continued...
