FYI, I went with the 2.5 Wingnut based on a couple of emails to Wingnut and their quick replies.
Here is what I have found thus far:
Likes
-Lower placement over the Camelbak style. Very nice, comfort and easy on long rides.
-Storage capacity, like the open access, side access pockets (tools, tubes, food, etc.)
-Material is known to be very durable (sail cloth)
Dislikes, or maybe I just need to get used to it
-Water bladder is a hard fit when full, need to "play" with it to get it in
-Cannot fill the bladder in the bag, have to pull out and re-route hose
-Under arm hose, running it over the shoulder and keep trying under, perhaps shortening the hose a bit
-Prefer the Camelback valve, will be switching out
-No hose routing on straps, difficult to get standar valve through "guides". Purchased a Camelbak hose clip to resolve
-No compartments for main storage area, this I can get used to as I have not fully loaded the pack. I will use the back for arm warmers, jackets, first aid etc. Side pockets are great
-Need to relearn getting pac back on. I was used to the Camelbak "swing"
-Since straps can disconnect from the pack, I have had to untwist. This is a learning experiance.
-Lack of key laynard, will install one.
Overall, though it seems more dislikes than likes I prefer this pack over my Camelbaks. It comfy, roomy, easy to access food, camera, tools etc. I will not go back to a Camelbak style once I get my "features" in place.
It is also nice to work with a company that cares about the customer's input as well as innovates a good idea.
"Innovate or die"
