    Before I answer that -

DO you think that is a fitting punishment for the crime?

Should we reward them for breaking a law? Give them something because they have not been caught yet?

Can you tell me what Mexico or other countries would do to me if i were to illegally reside withiin their borders?

and did the people that hire the "illegals" break...wait for the reality check...the law? and did our country's immigration policy over the last 40 years actually...wait for the big picture to clear...actually encourage undocumented workers to come here? i can say it slower if that helps--and with more sarcasm...

    i say "good day".

Dougie, I'm with ya. Lets go after the employers also.

Same logic applies. Go after the root problem, and the rest sorts itself out.
Instead, we have dept of labor encouraging you to pay illegals minimum wage now. How does that solve your "cheap labor" argument?

I don't encourage illegal immigration but what I do encourage is a practical solution to the problem, I agree that it is a crime and a punishment has to be in place.

However looking at it from a practical point of view, what is the correct solution to the problem? there is more than you and me will ever know behind this, we are the most powerful nation in earth and we have the ability to close our borders if needed be, however is not being done and why? because the benefit outweight the problem, whether is right or wrong is irrelevant.

We as a nation of immigrants must find a resolution that meets the needs of all americans, however sending 12 million people back is not practical due to the cost of doing that and the willingness to do it.

We live in a country that allow us to have freedom of speech and we are all entitle to an opinion and I do respect any opinion, what I have a problem with is people talking crap and not offering a constructive comment.

God bless america and you all!

Perhaps in the past. Now, no one has the political backbone to close the border despite the fact that the cost of not doing so has surpassed any suposed benefits.

Is that guy paying taxes??? No... therefore i dont feel him selling flowers or oranges is such a large contribution to society that it outweighs the fact that I am paying for the eduction of his six kids.

And i did not mean to single out hispanics, they just happen to be the group that affects me the most personally. I have the same feelings about illegals from any county, white, black, asian, i dont care! you dont pay taxes....GET OUT!

I understand it is not practical, but its also not practical to keep letting them in. we are at our breaking point... In 2005 in CA alone it cos 7.7 BILLION dollars to educate children of illegal immigrants....and what are we doing today??? laying off teachers........again..... breaking point...

There are places within our county that are as dangerous as Baja.

That said, like anywhere common sense about where you're at and when you're there make a big difference.

I've been in Baja at least several hundred times over the years and never had a problem.

    AZ on the other hand.....

I've been chased by gun wielding maniacs. Fortunatly we were able to ride faster then they could drive.

AZ and Mex are both great places to visit and ride, I'd be surprised if the new law makes much difference.

I think it keeps sliding over to mexico/mexicans as they are the largest group affected by the law in AZ. I have pissed and moaned alot in this thread about what irritates me about he 'boarder' here in socal, and I am sure pissed off a few, so as CalEpic said I will focus on AZ.
I am proud of AZ for finally standing up, and enfourcing the law!

This law isnt going to change anything for people living in Arizona. This is just a case of times getting tough and needing someone to blame. Arizonas economy has been suffering for a couple years now and the sad part is the people getting blamed for the states problems actually help their economy.

Proffesor of imigration UC San Diego:
For his part, Gutierrez is skeptical of claims that the law will begin an exodus. “I don’t see a historical trend that has been in place for 100 years will be reversed because you’ve got a few hyper-conservative white legislators trying to turn back the clock, turn back the tides of history.”
Any loss, however, will be a loss for Arizonas economy. “Latinos...are a highly flexible, highly exploitable work force, a buffer to economic downturns,” he says. “Many of the industries here – agriculture, service industries, low-end manufacturing, construction – are massively dependent on undocumented workers.

A "professor of immigration" named Gutierrez complaining about "hyper-conservative white legislators"? Now I'm convinced.
