Why is "Dirt Treaders" a banned word on here?

i don't know you mark, but i'm sure you are friends with a lot of the SD guys that make up that other forum.. i know a lot of those that frequent that site most likely still post on this site as well. All i have to say is that if you like to mock and make fun of people, at least have some balls and do it in person. For those that will come here and cry about people being banned and why is this or that censored... if you don't like how things are here, GTFU

i think it was downhillwebkook that said this forum should be called socaltrailwhiners

It looks like a lot of the newest members on *********** are STR folk. Is this a publicity stint? Where's the celebrity sex tape?

ps where do I file to get my 10 minutes for reading this thread back?

I tell ya madness, many complain about what the site has turned into then jump right in on the madness.

why does something like this happen so often?
This threads needs to be closed. If everyone has a problem with eachother- just take it outside.

We need to start having group rides again, we must reunite and hug things out! Maybe have a bowl of rice and drink some tea. :)

The majority of the people who contributed were "regular guys" who don't run or moderate this site. I contributed, and I think it's a legit question for him to ask.

I beg to differ. I'm a mod and you can ask Boats how much I contributed. But that isn't the issue here. The issue is why are some things banned? Again we mods don't make the rules. I came in well after the game started and the rules were already set. We just enforce them, lightly as some may disagree, but a lot does go by unedited. George tried to create a bike website more friendlier than the others. Once upon a time STR was that and for the most part, still is. He tried to do without the illegal trail post cause like the other sites, it turns into a flame war. Do without certain sites that spam or "redirects" and do without the drama, but it seems keeping those very things out of here created it's own drama. I guess some people just have to have it. I sit here at work and wonder when I get home later today form work, I'll eat breakfast, get cleaned up and go to sleep, how much farther will this go? I'll be sleeping so I won't be able to "censor" it. Like I said before, if any of you guys want to come over and "censor" for a day, I'll by the beer.

1. It's pretty pathetic to bring up the bike IMO.
2. I started DT because I wanted a place where people feel like they have a say in how their online community worked. Many times people here have said "if you don't like it, make your own forum". So I did. RHS has been a contributor and ambassador, and yes, he called George a chode. Part of running a community in my view, is letting your users feel comfortable to say what they like. Rather than complain about it here, I've decided to let George & co. run STR how they like it.
3. San Dimas High School Football rules!

A large part of the reason why these things happen here is that many people think that they should be able to say/post anything they feel like, and do it with impunity. We live in a time where political correctness, lack of responsibility, unwillingness to accept consequences for one's actions, and frowning on "judgements" is the order of the day. If more people were willing to "take it outside", we would live in a more polite and honorable society.

George had every right to boot someone who posted offensive comments about him. If someone insulted me on the internet, they would not be welcomed in my home or cabinet shop. Quite the contrary! That the offending party and his crew ended-up all butt hurt and started their own site is fine and dandy. I wish them all luck! Maybe when/if their site becomes as large as STR, we can take a look to see how they handle the same inevitable problems which must arise as they have arisen here.

I agree with Gary on three points of his post: a) take it outside (figuratively and literally) when you have a problem with someone, b) more group rides and hugs, c) share a bowl of rice and cup of tea... or for those of more Caucasian descent, tri-tip and a beer/soda.

Most important... c) Share a bowl

I know you don't speak for the site, but I feel this is pretty hypocritical of STR in general. I have to wonder if Burner would have made those same comments in person?

If you look at the sites that splintered off from STR, there's no drama, just talking about mountain biking and riding together. Everyone already knows where to find the drama :)

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I guarantee that i'd make my comments in person. Ask anybody who knows me.

Of course there's no drama on the new sites... yet.

MTBR: old site with many members = much drama
STR: middle in age and size of membership = some drama
DirtT/STM: new and few members = no drama

See a trend here? Again, let's see how it goes when the membership is 4000+.

That's seriously got to the be the lamest thing I've seen here in quite a while...

"Dirt Treaders" as one word: ************

It's pretty clear you posted this just to stir up shit. Well, Fish On! Your bait did the trick.

I never figured you for an ingrate. Sleep well knowing that this community will think long and hard about helping out someone (supposedly) in need in the future.

candidly i know nothing of the backwater on the op topic but do recall this post.

http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/general-discussion/9594-bike-relief-sladnas.html

alot of support by some good solid peeps on str including founder, mods, etc.

not "taking sides" just saying

We have a winner.

If people want anarchy in their forums there are others out there. If people want to talk about mountain bikes and rides there is STR.

We'll leave this thread open for a little while longer to allow others to comment as long as things stay civil, then it will be closed.

Wow, stooping to a new low. Great job.

maybe str could become Survivor Trail Riders where peeps get voted off from their "peers" and the mods dont have to take the brunt of the bs.

act like a tard and your are asked to HAB. lay down some good rr's add to the banter in a constuctive manner and you are granted immunity and get the STR hard hat as the immunity idol;)

(yes i know i am a loser and wouldnt make it past one week and be voted off with my bike between my legs :( )

again my post above was not directed/calling out anyone other than to point out how cool the peeps on str can be and as such lets all not forgot that when some of the board stuff bothers us.

last night i sent a pM to a few posters above and hope they understand my true intention

now who said that thing about sharing a bowl and when does it come my way :)

ps all the above in jest of course except in bold and me being a loser

every forum has drama, in the short time i've been here i have seen NOTHING compared to the local Mustang forum i belonged to for about 4 years
