Assed out! It's my fault for not having my wife sign in to active.com before registration opened.

I couldn't help to immediately remember how many DNS's there were last year and get super angry. I know come a few months prior a bunch of spots will open up. And If not, we can organize a group ride that leaves from Blackstar at 6:30am.

LOL totally! And and be honest, it also took me about 30 seconds to find the "register" button. I kept scrolling down instead. Duh!

I would have thought once the races are full, the "register" but would disappear. I didn't realize until reading here that you better fill out that form fast (not that I wasn't trying to blaze through it) or you still might not get in. I figured once you hit the "register" button, you were safe. Now I know. Luckily, I was fast enough!

This has been a sore spot with me for years......the number I'd people that register to do an event that sells out in minutes who don't show up on event day, when there are tons of other riders who would have loved to be able to participate.

Unfortunately we have no control over that.....active.com does things thier own way.

As much as this pisses everyone off, remember that the event is a few months off and things do happen. One rider was in the hospital with his daughter the day of the VQ, several riders get injured, the flu season hits, overtraining, and you cannot change spots within a certain time period of the event. Sometimes, life is unfortunate.

On the flip side, the waiting list is often a bust, as most spots open within 6 wks of the event. If someone on the wait list hasn't been training, they don't take the spot. Ask Jeff and Gene how many names they go through at the end before getting a response and how far down on the list they've gone in the end. If you're on the wait list, keep riding!!

That is actually one reason my husband and I opted out after our second VQ (and a CC); we want to share the CC/VQ joy with EVERYONE. Plus, it's not like it's a race and we're not Cameron (record holder who got in after his friend dropped out), Fuzzy (record holder for SS who didn't get in last year), or Manny.

But, remember that the races that are lottery, don't let you sell your spot. If you pay to play, then can't for any reason, you go back to the lottery.

Once WS gets the email list from Active could they consider an email about the moral obligations of handing off a spot that won't be used? You don't need to get into specifics about how to do that, but a bit of applied guilt might diminish the number of DNS's.

Got in for my first VQ after doing my first CC last year. Completely stoked.

I sure hope I get in a lot more training time that I did last year.

Well I was on the fence then slept right through the registration. So.......great! I don't have to be on the fence and "train" anymore!

This will be my 3rd or 4th VQ. Why does it sell out so fast? I remember in 2005 or 2006 I registered like 2 or 3 months after. All of the sudden in the last couple years it sells out in a few min

I too stayed up to register and it was full before I finished the form. Very frustrating. I'll train anyway and hope for the best. At my age I may not have many more years to do this sort of thing. I think I'm pushing the envelope now.

    I'm a first time. Can't wait.

P.S. This was the longest wait ever to register. I felt like I was in a doctor's office waiting for my turn...

    Come on guys....really?

You didn't get in. Get on the waiting list and hope to get a spot or wait until 2012.

Disclaimer: If your comments were sarcastic, then ignore this posting, but people who don't pay for events and participate in the events illegally alongside other people who have paid irritates me and probably many others.
