First time riding The Luge in awhile. I don't much care for the fire road riding, but I do enjoy The Luge itself. The bit through Whiting was pretty crowded, which was surprising since I avoided Borrego and went in on the Wahoo's side.
Down Cactus, then over to start the Luge loop. Someone did some very nice trail work on the two extra credit sections (the two I know about anyway, there might be more) which at least provide fire road relief. It looks like they rerouted the first one slightly, enough so that I was able to clean the climb for the first time ever. The downhill bit after is much better than the fire road alternative.
The second extra credit (the bit up to the other Flag) was significantly cleaned up also. I did not clean the climb on that one and had to walk some of it. The downhill from that peak is not very exciting, so not sure i will do that one again.
I thought I was having a pretty good run down the Luge, but at about 2/3 of the way down I came across a crashed rider. I stopped and made sure he was OK. He said he was, so after about a minute of making sure, I finished up.
Back over to Whiting, down Sage Scrub and then out through the flowy singletracks through the trees.
Good ride.
