I'm looking to pick up a good road bike but am not sure what size i should be looking for.

    I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam...

I'm planning on buing used so I won't have the friendly staff at my LBS helping get the fit right.

    Buy My Road Bike!

I have posted and will re-post a Titus Drop U Road Bike size large. Approx. size is 57cm. My son is 6'2" and road it with a 130mm stem. I have since installed a 120mm stem which should be right for you. Price is right at $850. See post.

Thanks Dan, I remember seeing that bike and I am interested, I just need to sell my dirt bike first to fund more fun.

You should look for anything from 56-58. The stem and seat tube can make up any difference.

    Each frame feels different though.

Road bikes should be sized according to the horizontal or effective top tube (ETT), not the actual top tube or seat tube (ST). A good starting point would be an ETT of 570-585mm. You are most likely to find this on a bike with a 57-59 cm ST. The stem length will probably be around 120mm, and the crank-arm length will be 175mm.

Proper fit is even more important on a road bike than on an MTB.

I would highly recommend riding with a local roadie club...you will learn a lot, and maybe even find a good deal on a road bike.

PM me if you need more info.

I have roughly a 33" inseam (maybe closer to 32) and I have always ridden a 59 cm seat tube measured center to center. I would think you would fit something closer to a 60 cm, but you will want to look at the top-tube also. Some brands have longer top-tubes relative to seat tube length. I have a relatively long torso for my overall height and therefore I fit a bike with a little longer top tube. If you're all legs then you'd be more comfortable on a standard top-tube. In my experience the bike will ride more comfortable and handle better, and you'll feel fresher at the end of longer rides if you get the right fit in terms of top and seat tube.

Didnt read the other posts, But you will be on eithr a 58 or a 60. 56 will be just too small and you will end up cramped up, needing alarge setback seatpost, and a crazy long stem

<plugging my shop> We get about 60 bucks for a complete fit if you wanted to come down. Check the website in my sig if your interested

    I agree with the 58.

I guess you could call me a roadie. My roots are still in the dirt tho.
