I just gotta ask...
STR was the cream of the crop just 2 1/2 years ago. And to be honest, it bugs the bajeezes (<- spelling?) out of me that people are constantly joining and there is hardly ANY posting activity going on here!

I got frustrated with all the Forum crashes and uncertainty and lack of Forum Ownership and went out and figured out how to build my own site in effort to have a place to commune with my fellow MTB'ers.

Moderator's, what are you doing to get this site rolling again? Why do you have cactus as a header? Xenforo is a stable platform so to have indicated over 21,000 members this should be getting back to a hopping Orange County Mountain Bike Forum.

Have you completely lost the juice? No more mojo?
This site has so much history, so much data, info, pics, ride reports, etc, etc, etc!
Get it moving! I only WISH I had the membership and history this site has!

Man! Get it going or shut it down! Don't let it become an MTB Mortuary!

I miss this place!
Rant over.

Thanks EYV!
I guess what frustrates me is that Newbie's or mtb transplants to So Cal sign up here and get no lovin'...:(
If we are going to grow the sport, then we need to promote the stoke and communicate to build a positive network of trails and community. This is like a black hole for new membership.

On the other hand, I bust my azz nearly daily to build and maintain a great site providing a positive stoke about our amazing sport, AND, get out and ride all over Southern California to meet and greet MTB'ers to share that stoke and expose them to a positive community.

But what makes a site great is the contribution of its Members. There are plenty of members here. What are they doing to build and maintain the mtb stoke. Check out the enthusiasm and relationships that have been built at imtbtrails, what a difference even a small community base can do to generate posts full of fun, information, technical info, and a sense of unity. That can be done here as well...

Hey Mikee welcome back. It has been quite a while. Any new epics? The last one I remember you ended up in Grapevine. Yes, seeing the cacti got me too, maybe since I did a OTB big leap into a patch one time. It was that ear stuff or the cholla. No decision.
Happy big mountain trails from the last Ventura county rider on STR.

PS the El Nino has been very kind to us down here. The trails are riding hard and fast, scary fast

Hey Bud!
Yeah,
Thought I would check in over here, see how things are going...
Been doing lots of crazy epics. Getting ready to go back to Kokopelli in May.
Stay riding, stay smiling and keep the stoke brothah! ;)

Scenic photography in a header seems fine to me. Apparent absenteeism of admin/leadership doesn't.

Every successful enthusiast web forum I can think of has a leader who, at least occasionally, steps in to say hey. I don't think I've ever seen a post from anyone in charge here. Couple that with catastrophic technical issues and mass exodus, and you get the perception of an entity circling the drain – whether or not it's true.

So it goes, though. People are what make a forum, and they will make it where they are accommodated and being listened to. This seems like a ghost ship to me, and I won't add content other than a passing comment, because I (and others) have lost content here and nobody in charge seemed to give a shit about it.

Hey, admin, am I wrong?

Meh! I'd rather see cacti from SoCal than a Broken Collarbone Ad any day. Lol.

I have a feeling this site is slowy but surely resurrecting itself. Out with the old in with the new. As you mentioned lots of good info still here. Sucks that some of our vids are no longer here but that's why I post my vids on youtube. Inspirational that you started your own forum. Happy promo on STR.

This site was awesome for many years. I was around from the beginning. I remember the founder posting about it on MTBR. I followed that post over here within the first week or so.

I lurked forever because most of the members lived in OC and I didn't. It was a fun site though.

The problem is that for all of the awesome members this site had, there was also a large number of users who were complete jerks -- and they didn't care who knew. They were rude to new members and acted like they were better than everyone.

Now don't get me wrong, there were many super cool members and I met many of them and formed some great friendships. But the group of jerks also included the founder of this site George. When that's the case, how do you fix it? I mean, they even had multiple accounts so they could screw with people under a different name.

It didn't help that the founder and all the other "cool kids" made secret forums that you had to be given special access to. They did this to get away from the traffic on the main site. There were even remarks made by them that they like the site better when it was just them. Nice way to make everyone feel welcome, right? Who knows, they might still have the secret forums.

I'm not trying to start crap. It is what it is. I haven't been on here in several years. I only got back here because a google search result directed me here.

The reason I haven't been on here in years is a funny story involving the founder George and his Napoleon complex. Good times! Lol.

There are too many resources to find rides other than this forum. Meetup seems to be taking over coordinating events. Then there's IMBA/MTBR forum and Facebook groups. STR is probably at the bottom of the barrel for people as it lacks a lot of features to coordinate an event. Most people that are hardcore probably already have their established click to ride with. There's also shop rides like The Path doing weekly rides.

You are wrong. I care. What content have you lost? I will doubt I can bring it back, but I will try. If anyone has a non cactus photo, send it my way.

Hah hah! Nice!
Actually it's an Ad that repairs broken collar bones with minimal invasion. If I broke my collar bone (and I have broken both Mountain Biking) I would want to know of options... Just sayin':)
yeah, that is why I do not even think about tubeless. The risks outweigh the benefits

I have found some videos and will get them back up.

Applaud your efforts Jordan. unfortunately the site crashed several times in the past few years. each time it took longer and longer to bring back, less people returned each time.

when the owner can't be bothered to care or respond when one or two moderators tried to keep things together why should any other visitors?

One question still lingers in my mind? Were we really hacked? Russians, China or ISIL? PAYBACK IS B&$TCH BTW!

Target was hacked recently. I still shop there. WTF is going on here? LOL.
