Ride Report What Happens in Mammoth goes on STR!!

That shot of B-rad has gotta be one of the coolest riding photos that I've seen in awhile. Winston, do you have any other angles of that section, like the run in?

I've been at work - physically - for over 5 hours. I haven't done any work yet. I keep looking at the pictures dreaming that I'm still there riding. Heck, I was so tired this morning because I was virtually riding the trails all night long!

Thanks again for all the photos! Keep 'em coming!

One of the things I notice odd (to me) about that Japanese culture when I am there is that on average, most men live to work. Most of us on this board work to live.

Sunday – Time to wrap it up.

My preparation took a little too long on Sunday so I missed the first run down Velocity with Mechmann, Allison, Denmother and Roger.

Lee and I hooked up and while we were riding the gondola up we got to see Roger ride off trail and Allison go down. (Maybe being late has its privileges?)

For the second run we took part of the STR group up to hit Velocity.

We’ve got wood:

Mechmann – nice:

J_Sims:

Chaos:

Rogue rider – He loves catching air:

JasonMason – CC wants to ride your Demo:

Denmother:

Roger:

Allison:

Final wood:

Chaos – Putting the hurt on his front tire:

Time for the large STR group to run down Velocity.

A few of the guys hit an advanced section with lots of kitty litter in the landing.

7Point rider – Distracted by Dino “The Traitor” Brown, has a little trouble:

Much better:

Roger makes it look small:

Lee flying by:

Alright, the plan was to do a Velocity/Shock Treatment/Richter run…

Unloading at the top. “Somebody better go back and get a S-load of bikes!”

Folks got a little spooked when they got outside and decided to stick with the familiar Skidmarks. (Crap, another pedal fest…not really.)

When a drift blocks the trail, you can always find another way:

Making the turn. From this point on the snow wasn’t a factor:

On the first fire road descent, Rogue Rider tried to make a high speed pass only to find a snow covered hole. “UGGGGHHH!”, he and bike quickly separated. Didn’t take him long to shake it off and continue.

Continued...

Do you guys ever work?? :?: Man, so jealous. Looks awesome!

Only enough to pay the bike bills ;)

Luckily we both have a decent amount of vacation... about 2-3 years ago we couldn't go anywhere since Justin had no vacation, and I only had about 5 days worth. (We didn't even get to take a honeymoon.)

It's a slow day at work today (luckily), otherwise I'd have to be holding my photos hostage...

I'd like to follow in :steppie:'s footsteps. He always hits up great riding locales for weeks at a time :)

Somehow we ended up on Flow. The little log drop caused folks some trouble. Roger cut his hand. I wiped my butt with my rear tire and…

Sprockethead awakes from his dirt nap:

Of course we eventually ended up at the Flow Drop:

Sprockethead hits the drop with is eyes closed?

Mechmann – No problem. Wait a second, Kenda tires. I foresee a break in our future.

Lee – Looking good man:

Two is better than one:

Up next was the container drop. You can go as big or as small as you want to.

Rider’s name withheld due to contractual obligations:

JasonMason:

Roger:

J_Sims:

Wearing a full face to hide your identity on the Switch?

Lee!

Demo rider:

Mechmann:

J_Sims:

JasonMason:

Denmother:

Rogue rider hit the Canyon Lodge parking lot drop. Roger decided to give it a shot and was heard to utter…

“Not enough speed.”

Lee – No problem:

Pfffft – Kenda tires:

Roger, Denmother and I decided to go have lunch at a good burger place. The rest of the group went and did some more runs. (They would grab food on the way home.)

After lunch we grabbed the shuttle…darn old one:

The original plan was to get some mid mountain runs in after lunch. Denmother and I figured we were done for the day, but Roger surprised us and we headed up and did one more Velocity run. Roger, tough as nails!!!

That’s all folks!

Work? I might be sitting in the office right now, but work? Nah...

Great shots everybody - thanks for posting them up! I was having too much fun to stop and take pictures. Only thing is, now i realize just how much air I wasn't getting on that Demo!

Had an amazing time up there - thanks for all the advice and pushing for my first time out on the big bikes...now I just need one of my own!

Winston - thanks for the photos and RR!! Great finally getting to ride with you. See you Sunday ;) Don't worry, you'll be waiting around PLENTY for me while I'm the slowest rider... :D

Thanks Allison. I have a feeling you won't be the slowest rider Sunday.

Besides Mechmann will be busy fixing all his Kenda related flats. I think you can take him.

Sweet, so mebbe I'll get to take some pics afterall!

Haha! Usually it isn't a big problem ;) He used to shred side walls like they were going out of style (he did the same to a Maxxis!), but not really so much anymore.

I actually had been having great luck with my 2.35's, but did put a hole in the tread somewhere between Downieville, Kernville, BBx3, Noblex3 :D

I do love the Chunders on the Demo, though...

funny thing about this pic...

i went down ahead of the group and did the jump, then rode over the berm and bailed my bike to run back and take pictures. thought my bike would be safe but the karate trail missile was on a search and destroy mission...

That's aight... he was just pre-planning for Lee running his bike down after the container drop :D
