So.....I just put 10 more lbs of ish in my pack. Alot of this stuff makes to much sense. One thing I have in my pack is Butterfly Closures.......but I guess that duct tape covers that.....as well as about half the other stuff.

    first of all, this thread's been done...but it's a good re-do.

second, after the coldwater rr i now carry a multi-tool with a chainsaw attachment.

last...pato- with almost the entire stock of a small drugstore in your pack, all you can muster when i was bleeding from multiple wounds, semi-conscious, and going into shock was: a cigarette? bastard...

      Wait a minute... :-k :-k :-k

This may actually come in handy. I think I may need to get me one of those too.

Well, why would I do that? After all the trouble I went through to chase you down just so I can knock you over? Besides, I only pull out my stash for important people, like slaves, peasants and above. Once you raise yourself up to that level of importance I may toss a used bandage your way in passing.

I do recall, though, that I did slow down slightly to see if your bike was worth taking. It wasn't so I just kept going.

Pato you forgot something worth mentioning on this thread, the asian masseuse hiding in your back pack. :)

I carry the usual stuff except for the last two items

    Spare tube and patch kit.
    Derailleur hanger.
    Gu gels and Clif bars.
    Cell phone.
    Zip ties and duct tape.
SRAM power links and spare links.
    Shock pump.
Multi-tool (but I need to buy a new one, any recommendations?)
    Small flashlight.
Arm warmers and lightweight vest windbreaker.
    First-Aid kit.
Epipin, I’ve had to use it on a dive trip, my dive partner went into anaphylactic shock from getting stung by a Portuguese Man O' War.
Depending on the trail I plan to ride, a folding shovel.

Yes it has! Pato's patched me up twice (once at Chilao and once at Big Bear).

Nowadays, I use a 'tech pack'... it has about twice the cargo space of the largest Camelbak.

No matter where i'm riding, I always carry:

First aid kit (w/betadine and painkillers), food, water, compass, map of area, lighter, tool kit (w/zip ties, quicklink, and extra brake pads), emergency blanket, tubes/patch kit/pump, mustard packets (for cramping), knife, and phone.

Depending on the ride, i'll also carry:

DH armor, ff helmet (strapped on outside), cold/wet weather gear (windbreaker top, windbreaker pants, arm warmers, fleece vest, insulated gloves, extra wool socks).

I ride a lot in remote areas, and learned in my earlier backpacking/mountaineering days to always have what's needed to survive overnight in adverse conditions.

If I rode with PATO, I would carry nothing, the man comes prepared! I carry a big patch kit, an extra tube, a pump. I should carry more, but just getting back in to this I don't know what I'm forgetting. (Knock on wood I havn't had any flats.........damn, here I go!)

I just bought the Dakine Nomad pack to carry my FF helmet, DH armor and I still have room for my folding shovel, works great but I’m still getting use to the bite valve, I might replace it with the camelback bite valve

Bumping this thread up after running into a couple of other bikers at Turnbull this morning who were lacking even the basics despite carrying camelbaks.

Plus I'm always looking to add stuff into mine that I seem not to have.

I actually don't carry a camelbak because I'm a weight weenie and I think it's unnecessary for me. I usually hydrate fully the day before a ride and 1 20 oz bottle can last me about three to four hours. On my bike I have my pump strapped to my down tube, waterbottle, watterbottle holder, seat wedge, patches, ties, extra tube, tire levers. In my pockets (possibly jersey pocket) I have my glasses, MP3 Player, Cell Phone, and garage door opener.

    It depends on the ride.

Rope, duct tape, knife, hatchet/folding saws, shovel, loppers sometimes:?:; no blindfolds or painkillers though.

If that's the case, feel free to come over and I'll pack your Camelbak for you. I can think of plenty of stuff to add to it.
