It's all a bit blurry but somehow after going to Performance today I somehow have this in my garage.. I went there to look at singlespeed mtbs that I could use around town and light trail... :?:

Anyways.. initial impressions are impressive.. Sure is a LOT different than my StumpFSR. Hope to ride it to work a couple days a week and during the rainy seasons... This is my first roadie.. Got it for about $1100 after the sale and coupon.. :-k

    nice

D@mn man... I wish that any shops still had 64cm bikes waiting to be walked off with for 1100 clams at the end of the model year.

    Good on ya.

    cheap ss mtb

BTW... if you're still looking for that SS here's a deal...
    http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/outcast29_08.htm
$400 ain't a bad entry price into the world of SSers and fixies, though I've heard that the chainring is a bit big for any real trail riding and the components aren't exactly top tier, or even middle for that matter... TANSTAAFL

Next time I've got $400 burning a hole in my pocket...

    Very cool!!!

I was amazed by how much better I felt on my mountain bike when I started putting in the miles on the road bike.

Well, I took it out for a lil night ride.. Where is the granny gear?.. holy crud.. I kept trying to downshift.. hahahaha.. The bike is fun to ride.. definitely can see where this would help the mtb fitness.. The bike is nice and tight.. frame is stiff and with my size that says alot..LOL... standup cranking was no problem... got going scary speed on a downhill from the top of Robinson Ranch Rd.. cars scare the hell out of me.. thats it for now..

    Big Rick,
That is very similar to the bike I went to Performance to check out.. it was the SE Racing Stout SS 29er.. Seemed like a cool bike at was at $500.. When condidering that I wanted to commute 6mi to work with it I settled for the roadie and then of course had to get something decent that would be enjoyable to ride and not gernade under me.. I think I made the better long term decision..

It will take a bit to get used to going 35+mph on some of the descents AND with them skinny arse tires under you. ;)

Yep, even with great lights and something that makes you think twice when on a carbon frame, you will get the occasional debris that hits the bottom of the down tube making you think, "What the hell was that?!".;)

Try it at 04:45 - 05:00 in the morning, not only is it dark but when you go flyin' by a bunch of sprinklers it sounds as though you just blew a tire and you now have to figure out which one it was... Then you pass the sprinklers and realize what he loud hissing was #-o

It's fun but in a very different way.

With slicks on a roadie, you actually have a bit more rubber on the tarmac than if you ride a knobby mtb tire down the road.

50 is fun (but don't do it in traffic if you can help it -- just find some big ole hill and roll it down!!).

Nice ride. I just like saying SCATTANTÉ. Makes me feel all Italian like.
