Were really doing it!!!

Nice start but they quit! What's a little wind and cold?

Have we forgotten this guy?

I think the guys got too caught up in the excitement of the scope of the trip that they were on. The title "Let’s face it, we were never cyclists" really sums it up completely. Once they got over the excitement of going cross country, there wasn't any motivation left.

Ha! We got punk'd!

Called out by name even on their blog...

http://werereallydoingit.com/2010/10/16/lets-face-it-everyone-is-a-cyclist/

Got that url as the only thing written into a PM last night from a new member (mbrider84). The title of the PM was woops. Ha haa!!

Being out there in the headwinds must do funny things to your head, to give even a slight shitlette about what we think, say or do in this forum. Glad to see they are still at it.

Like I said, even monstrously prepared people die on the face of Everest, so why not, right? Just do it, and all that. But, I was not surprised when they 'called it quits.' Learning now that they are still rolling, well I feel great. I do wish Heath would get a helmet. That's just stoopid...

Ha, ha, ha. It was a fake quit. ITS STILL ON. They even blogged about the Negative Nancys on our very own STR... you know who you are (read the October 16 entry and click on 'forum here'). I think its super cool that they're doing this trip!! The pictures are awesome. The desert shots are my favorites.

When they mentioned "Alex", for a moment I thought they were referring to me, but it's a different Alex.

Kudos to them that they're still doing it: I hope that they'll make it safely.

Wow. So the Negative Nancys are the douchebags rather than the attention-whoring fake quitters. What's next, fake "got hit by a car" reports?

Attention whores? Props to the guys who are sleeping on the side of the road and on the adventure....instead of talking and commenting about it. You all are fortunate to be able to live vicariously through them because they are sharing their experience on a blog...the only attention whores I've seen are the ones who post up like crazy on a forum and have something to say about every little thing.

Heath and Jeff will get it done. It may not be RAAM speed, but they have the determination and focus to see it through.

Good luck, Good weather, and Safety to them. Although if they don't get it, it will make for good reading.

I'm rooting for these guys

Theyre trying, and in my book, that's all that counts. It's a bit cliche but I go by, "better to have tried and failed, than to have not tried at all." I've had my share of tears and cheers, makes for a well rounded person, and a life lived.

"....Apparently they forgot that everyone has known how to ride a bike since they were 5 and that it isn’t rocket science...Anyone who is willing to take the time off and has the money for the gear has a decent chance of making it."

This really got me smiling. Bravo! :clap:That is the simple beauty of the bike. You just need decent health and a decent bike and you are good to go.

Whether or not they make it all the way doesn't even matter. They've already covered some serious ground.

I love the fake quit, hilarious!

From their blog:
" So if anyone is bummed that we tricked you…….chin up, it’s all in good fun and we needed some Biggy-Tupac drama to spice this blog up."

That's attention whoring in my book. That's my last comment about this. I was rooting for them until this whole fake quit thing. Now, my care level is zero.

Those guys are idiots...

They are doing a cross-country ride and he's afraid of breaking his chain because "he doesn't know how to fix anything!" Ha! This will be fun to watch...

"People just told me what's the best and I bought it" - Translation - I have more money than brains...

The best part - "We plan on arriving (completing the trip) in mid-December. I sure hope they are riding through MS, AL and FL because they are going to freeze to death if they ride through the mid-west.

Good luck - sounds like a poorly planned disaster in the making...

you dont have to ride through the southern states to make it. my dad used to ride during the winter when we lived out in central minnesota...you can do it. just relax man, its pretty cool what they are doing, i hope they make it and learn a ton about biking. these guys are actually going to attract a lot more people to biking with this journey and they way they are documenting it.

good luck guys! ill definitely be checking out the blog!

All I have to say is some people take things too serious on the internet and on bike forums. I thinks it hilarious that they got people on the fake quit. I wouldn't call it attention whoring at all; I think it sheds a light on how people can poo-poo anything and anyone on the internet without care. Good for them, who cares if they make it or not or wether they're "serious" riders or not. what matters is they are doing something many of us wish we could do.
