I would guess the only difference is weight. Ultegra's will be lighter.

I'm still looking for a low price HT Frame, preferably a Yeti ARC. I want to get rid of my Transition Trail or Park DJ Bike.

Nice choice. I hope you like the variety road biking offers. If I might make some suggestions - have a professional fitting done with you an the bike so you get the right size bike, stem, seat height, etc. Also, since you curently ride platforms, you will be amusing to your friends if you don't practice getting in & out of your new clipless pedals before you ride with them. IMO I like Speedplay for the float, but there are many choices out there. I started on a road bike and added mountain biking, the opposite of you. Some of the people I met mountain biking found riding with cars passing nearby to be a scary idea, so ask your roadie friends to start with rides where traffic won't be an issue.
And remember - it's about having fun!

Wow am I reading this right that tooth enamel has a modulus elasticity of 2,000,000 force-pound per square inch more than aluminum? That is one strong tooth.

But yes the ranking is Aluminum, Ti, then Carbon.

Any pants available that don't look so dam tight? I plan on spending about $100 on riding pants. Summer pants prefer, long. Any recommendations?

    Road cycling= tight
You'll get used to it. It works and is much more functional then baggy clothes.
I would recommend short sleeve jersey and shorts or knickers. Use arm warmers, and leg warmers that are removable. It gives you options. Especially on longer rides, we live in CA and there are very few days when you need long sleeved gear as the day warms up. But again, tight is your friend on a road bike. Then you'll take the next step, and tight will be your friend on your MTB.

And his other 3 friends are wearing local shop kits. What's your point? Shop at performance if you want to.

Bergsteiger is right, go with arm and leg warmers. It can be in the 50's when you start your morning ride but as soon as it warms up or you start to climb you'll want to be able to remove extra layers. Of course you could always wear a camelbak and stash your tights in there. Not highly recommended for the road, but I'm sure I'll get bashed for saying don't wear a camelbak when you road ride.

Don't take it too personally. Bergstieger is the poser is the photo; that I took. I am one of the guys in a local team kit. The problem with the interwebs is that you can't tell the level of sarcasm. Berg and I can be rather sarcastic people, and we have been good friends since working at Sport Chalet and going to college together (heck we were in each other's weddings).

Your comments are a common warning to new riders. Some care others don't.

Adding to Bergsteiger's recommended list of clothes for cool SoCal riding, shoe covers. I find all you really need is a light windblocking shoe cover here. I like these. They don't seem to make them any more so get them before they are gone. Mine have lasted several years.
