I was at the San Marcos crit this morning, bright and early. I ran Cat 5. It was my first race since Mount Snow in 02.

I did fairly well the first 3 laps or so, but then the "small" climb got to me. I fell off the back of the pack and kept plugging away. I was eventually lapped with 3 laps to go. But I did pull it out and finished. I'm still waiting to see the results online, I do know I wasn't in the top 20. But out of 50 riders I think I was at least 49th! It was a good learning experience. Now i just need to train for the next 2 crits and focus on next season.

I'm the one in the gray Twin Six Jersey with the tegaderm bandages on my legs.

Major kudos to you for giving it a go. It takes guts to do what you did. I still say good job!

Thanks, the course was fun. It was just after 6 times up the same climb it took its toll. But I'm just looking forward to the next race.

Good job, and thanks for the report. Bonus kudos for not being a dufus like me that carried two bottles for a half hour race the first time out. :)

Which other two are you planning on doing?

I'm planning on the Ladera Ranch and Ontario #5. But I have to see what my work sched. will allow.

Nice job! The only crit-type race I've ever done was on dirt (short track)...it was fun but that's probably because we weren't going as fast as you would on a road bike.

Haven't done Ladera, but Ontario is a blast. I will see you at both.

Congrats! I am a die-hard MTB racer I think.... Never nutted up to do a roadie gig as of yet. I do pretty much train on the road 98% of the time though.

I will tell you that I see two heavies in that group that I know are fast as hell....

    Cheers,

    C.K.

Congrats! I was there, too, and about the same thing happened to me. Those dayum steep little hills build up after the 2-3rd lap. I was lapped at the last lap.

Kudos for staying in there and finishing! I think that's the most important part (not sure about you, but it took some internal fighting to do it).

See you at Ladera, though I'm not sure I want to do another hill ;)

Which division did you race in? My friend may have some shots of you.
