I got out fairly early Saturday morning to ride Weir Canyon. Not early enough as it was already pretty hot at 9:30 AM and only got hotter during the ride. I parked at Anaheim Hills Elementary where I got one of the last available spots ... people smarter than me got there early, LOL.
I headed up to the Flag, hit a drop and then down Wack GPS Signal, which is a little loose right now but not too bad. Then over to the top of Barham and down Deer Canyon. Finally over to Weir and and I started off by dropping in to Cliffhanger. Likely named because there is one particular spot with mad exposure, which is somewhat unusual for OC. Anyway, it is a short quick blast of a trail. Someone neutered the jump at the end, but still fun.
After a climb back up through Weir Canyon, I rode over to Brightstar Single Track, which i s not really all that fun, but is an interesting trail to ride on. Then over to Cadillac/Lemmings which is my favorite trail in Weir. Sort of cross country downhill singletrack with a big drop at the end which I avoid in favor of the smaller drop. Live to ride another day and such.
Back out of Weir on Old Weir Canyon Singletrack Descent which is high speed flow (and the site of my most painful MTB crash years ago) and out through the rock garden. Finally back over to Oaks, where I hit Barham Ridge and then dropped into Mountain Goat. I don't ride Goat enough, but it is pretty fun. I need to ride it more.
It was getting super hot, so even though I had another DH in me, I decided to call it a day. Parking lot was practically empty when I finished. One plus of riding in the heat is it limits running into many hikers and bikers.
