What if it rains 3/1? I forget, but do they reschedule for the following week? At least that's something to think about. Bummer though man about the dates.

They do reschedule for rain....not sure about the reschedule date though--either the next weekend or the weekend after.

They do NOT reschedule for other crappy weather--mud, wind, etc, and VQ day always has something going on (otherwise it would just be another ride in the park)

Me too man. Besides the Temecula last weekend I've been a bum. Good thing I finished all the Poptarts and Cookies I had in the house last night. 1 month left to work it.

Jeff, I feel your pain, same thing happened to me last year. Pray for rain buddy, though it didn't work for me last year .

My training ride this weekend consists of riding Chair 23, 22, 9, 14, and any other without a crowd. I'm gonna miss the Superbowl, kinda bummed about that but Mammoth's got some great snow right now.

Oh yeah, I'll be joining the bubbs in the back of the pack for CC.

Since none of us have done enough training, what are the chances they'll give us some room on the cut-offs?

Looks like I'll be in good company, if not a little crowded.

I still haven't done any real training, but I am a stronger rider than last year. Still I'm looking forward to a good day of riding.

Andy - it'll be on the radio.

See you guys at the finishline

BTW, I think we're doing loops from Blackstar so maybe we'll see some of you guys out there this weekend.

I've done one long ride and one medium ride so far and thats about it. The day of reconning may not be pretty 8-[
My new bike is all set to go but you know I kind of like my substantially beefier slower Enduro now. Where's it all heading?? Pretty soon I'll be an arm chair rider watching the Collective to get my kicks whilst Sarah throws mud and sand at me to get the realism factor.

If you want to drop out

If you want to drop out of VQ I believe that you can get a full refund. There is a waiting list of people that want to get in. (the CC as well).

Don't expect any slack on the cut offs. The WS gets too much crap about it as it is. The cut offs are mainly in place for the volunteers who staff the course. BTW please remember to thank them as you go by. It isn't that much fun to watch and be there from 4 am to 4-6 pm.

is that right? the cut offs are put in place with the concern and well being of the volunteers?

i agree with sauce, maybe some other elements of the events should be reconsidered.

Without cutoffs, riders would take all day to finish. The volunteers don't leave their station till ALL riders are accounted for. The WHT and Trabuco volunteers have to drive back through Blue Jay and on Qrtega Hwy and don't get back to O'neill until well after most have gone home.

    Actually, grasshopper .... not true.

Although it is a long day for the volunteers out on the course...especially those from Holy Jim on... the reason for the cut offs is to make this a hard event... hence the name Vision Quest. This is not a walk in the park... it's a hard, hard race... and when you've reached the end, you have a certain amount of pride and a knowledge that you've accomplished something that many other cannot or would not do. This is not a Newbie Ride. It's a ride that you have to train hard for... and even that does not guarantee that you will finish. Even to attempt to do this event separates you from most others. It is a test of endurance and pain.... and not to be taken lightly.

This is why I get so much satifaction working the race and encouranging others in their personal vision quest... be it CC or VQ.

    Pray for good weather!
