oh great. no pressure. i can't wait to chill with str ppl (especially sharky) after counting coup. my goal is to make it in before noon. plenty of time left to hang out! extra motivation to finish the race as fast as possible!
ps - is it okay to just tell the volunteers i'm riding single-speed after the race? or should i tell them before?

It might be best to email Chris right away. This way there won't be any more last minute confusion going on.

We added Upper Holy Jim a few years back... much more fun coming down that rather than Main Divide... although a lot slower.

I'll keep my eye out for you... what are you going to be riding, Pat?

CC on a Kona Coiler!

So Im doing CC again this year. I don't have a true "XC" bike anymore so it's just me and my 37lbs Coiler... wish me luck!

So Im doing CC again this year. I don't have a true "XC" bike anymore so it's just me and my 37lbs Coiler... wish me luck!

The first year I did the VQ, I did it on my 34 lb Kona Bear. Last year when I rode the CC with Lacey, I was on my Coiler which weighed 36. You'l be just fine on the climbs, and just think of all the FUN you're gonna have on the descents!:bang:

I just picked up this light the other day.
Cat Eye HL-EL410 Front Bike Light

Cost $40. Really small and light. Obviously won't touch my HID for brightness but it seems to put out a nice light, especially for how small it is. I plan on keeping it in my Camelback as an emergency light after the race.

It is currently on sale @ performance for $29.99. I think I'll pick one up today also.

That's true... last year I got pretty beat up on my hardtail going down motorway and upper holy jim... the coiler will be nice and comfy. ;-)

as for the concern about upper HJ and lower HJ, there's a sign at the bottom of upper HJ when you hit Main Divide pointing you twoards lower HJ. should be hard to screw that one up

You dont even need the sign - the marshalls are there to direct you and make a note of your race number.
