Think I am going for the CC SS Adventure... the 30 min less cutoff at bottom of HJ; I think knocked me out of VQ.

I made the cutoff by ~5min last year (geared)...not sure I can knock of 30 min from my time and still have enough to survive WHT and TT.

So I think I will try something different....

    March
    20

    Sunrise: 6:57am
    Sunset: 7:03pm

Because of the change in when daylight saving takes affect, it will still be an hour before the sun comes up, though there will be more sunlight at the end of the day.

No, the start was at 5:30am last year with a cutoff at 12:00 at HJ lot. The start will be at 6am this year with a cutoff at noon at HJ lot giving you 30 min less than last year but still easier than years past when the start was at 5:30 and cutoff was at the base of West Horse Thief at 12:30.

    easier....?

How about less extremely difficult...especially if you never rode or made that original cutoff.

    But empirically I agree....:)

Ahh, yeah that's what I meant by "moving up 30 minutes". It's tougher than last year.

My fearless next-door-neighbor andy_aka_rut suggests I do VQ since "anyone can do CC". Perhaps he's right. However, I only have 2+ weeks to decide if this is even humanly possible for me. I can climb Blackstar to Beeks in an hour. Am I in the ballpark? LOL

Well by moving it to HJ lot last year even though the cutoff time was moved to noon, still "less extremely difficult than years past cause if all things stayed the same as in 2008(WHT and 12:30 cutoff) and you arrived at HJ lot at noon, no way anyone could make it to the base of WHT in 30 min.

But still easier than years before when the cutoff was at WHT.

As long as you can maintain that pace and get to the bottom of MW in 1 hr or so, ya. Like last year, ask yourself how long it takes yo to get from the Peak and down Upper and Lower HJ? If it takes you 45 min to descend, then you need to making your turn at the peak at 11:15 and hope you have no flats, crashes, slower riders, hikers ahead of you. ;)

So, for those of us in SD, what is a comparable climb to CC for training? Palomar - Nate Harrison Grade?
