Vail Lake DH Race, November 8th

Hello its off season there right now so tent camping is $45 and RV spots are $55 plus you can double up (2 tents per spot is their rule) and split the cost with someone and you also get 20% off that we brokered for the racers so its actually $36 for tents and $44 for RV's a night after the discount.

Split that with a friend and pay less with the cost of gas these days thats a bargain plus you get to hang out on Saturday night when we have a BBQ and Hillbilly games along with live music at the village and then wake up early and get some practice in.

I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has so fire away if I don't have an answer for you I will find out for sure.

thank you very much! that is really good news. thanks and im sure i will have some more questions for you.

Great news; I wont be there on Saturday but ill be there sunday the 9th. Wont be racing until the 12 hrs :beer::beer:

Thanks for all the replies to my question it's really cool to see that I'm not alone here. I do have another Q though, I have a trance X2 its more of a XC but I like to downhill at noble canyon and it does ok. Would this not be a good bike to use? Will most people have DH specific bikes? I am planning on getting a reign X1 but just won't happen for a while.

I see that the DH course might be different, but thanks for the pictures of vail DH anyway...Could someone go up let's say, right now and ride there? Get some kind of feel for the land instead of just trying to do it on the practice day? Thanks again everyone

I have some questions for EC or anyone else that has ridden the race course. Is it an actual dh course or a stupid pedal fest like fontana? What do course times run? Will there be a split course, one for beg/sport and one for expert/pro?

I don't have a hard time with the idea of pedaling in a race. I mean, it's work, but not impossible ;)

Plus, I've seen some WC races that have flat sections.

Stephanie, you're a teacher... learn this lesson! 8-[

GRAVITY RACING! No chevrolegs required!

Hello James & Bryguy17
  • The course drops 450 ft of elevation

  • We have not done any timed runs on the course yet, but it is roughly around the mid 2 minute range, of course depending on how fast you are.
  • You can expect typical So Cal Dirt some hard pack and some loose fluff.
  • Some rock sections
  • The few people who have ridden the course have commented on how they love the overall flow.
  • There is a similar finish section in length to the wall at Fontana, but the difference between this course and the wall at Fontana is you continue to drop elevation as you get towards the finish line so you can continually pick up speed at Vail.
  • There is no course split same course for all.
  • You can also expect a few man made wooden features like A-Frame ladders that you can boost, racer jump or roll over.
  • And a few surprises you have to come race to find out!
Come out and have fun it will be fun and you can win tons of prizes from THE helmets , Wheelsets, Forks from Fox and much more.

Like I asked before: any Mongoose demos? I want to try the Khyber and boot R. I have a Teocali super. If they are as good as this bike I need to save money for a boot R.

Yes Mongoose will be there all weekend and will be demoing there 09 line all day Saturday in addition Intense will also be there.

Does that mean I can race a demo M6 sunday? that would be sweet...

But thanks for the info on the race course. sounds like a sweet deal, and I'm looking forward to it.

Who all is planning on doing men's sport? just curious who I'll be racing

why do you need to demo an M6? It's the worlds fastest bike!

If I were to buy any DH frame right now and money was not an option it would be the M6 or the Yeti 303. I might just buy both! :bang:

Honestly, I'm stoked on the '09 DHR. that's just sexy all over the place. Hell, I'd take an 08 too. Too bad I don't have 3k to spend on a frame alone #-o

The '09 glory DH has got to have the most solid part spec of any stock bike though. too bad the published geometry looks a little wonky to me (for a DH race bike). I like the geometry on my reign better for that.

glory parts build + DHR = sweetness? :-k
