Who: All XC STR members , Beginners/Intermediate

What: Slow-paced XC ride (4 hours total ride time, this includes stopping)

Where: Turnbull Canyon in Whittier\\:D/ ; meet at the Lower Turnbull Canyon Trailhead, ~3 miles east of the 605 fwy on Beverly Blvd EAST.

When: Saturday, March 11th @ 8 am :)

Why: I'm putting this ride together to bring in some of Beginner/Intermediate riders together. i have been off my bike for a month #-o and want to do some distance at a slower pace so that i can get back into it. \\:D/

****** I'd like to make this a 4 hour ride total: riding, regroupings/snack break. we can then hang out and have lunch at the Quizno's down the street @ Beverly & Workman Mill Rd.

I'm in! Since I've been sick for three weeks (upper respiratory infections SUCK!) I've been dying to ride! Plus, those key words "slow" and "beginner" sound like me. :) So, yeah. Let's ride!

How well does Turnbull do after the rains? I looked at the weather forecast and it calls for rain this weekend starting late Friday evening :(

Turnbull handles sections either very well or bad in the rain. a heavy downfall will definitley hinder a longer ride, but a light rain should be OK, IMO. the only real slippery section is the descent on the 7th Ave Loop going counter-clockwise. everything else should be managable mud-wise. i've never done the Friends Street singletrack descent after the rain, it should be interesting, judging by the terrain it should handle the rain well.

Unfortunately the forecast is not favorable. if it rains in the morning, it's obviously going to be posponed for next Saturday the 18th.

I'll probably head over there if it doesn't rain to much before or isn't forecasted for that day. I have my new Turner 5 spot that should be ready to go by then, but I'll be damned if the first ride I ride it in will be a mudfest. Do you park down the street or by the gate?
