After the rains last night, does anyone know if turnbull canyon at Whittier is open and ok to be ridden?

No it is not. Turnbull is closed for 48 hours post rain if I recall correctly. Turnbull does not do well with rain. The soil has a very high clay content. 7th St. loop takes a long time to dry out as it doesn't get much sun in many sections.

That mud up there will kill your drivetrain. I would wait even longer for the 7th St. section.

It's actually not bad at all, just small patches of mud. Just be careful lots of hikers. *

I haven't seen anyone discussing the signs that SCE put up that indicate some trail closure anytime between 3/28/12 to 3/28/13 while they upgrade the 250kv lines that run through the canyon.

Looks like the beginning of 7th street will have a structure built right at the trailhead. Does anyone know anything about this?

Anyone ride Turnbull today. I'm going to try and ride it tomorrow afternoon if its not muddy. Don't want to mess up the trail system thanks.

Turnbull trails are great!!!! I was there today and it was packed!!!! The only spot with mud are the switchback on the way down and up. But all the trails are excellent to ride right now.

Yes, it was in very good condition.

You will see I hit a lot of the popular stuff, but not all. I didn't hit A-line or Rattlesanake today. It's very tacky and flowy right now.

Turnbull was great today, excellent dirt. Climb at the beginning of Cow trail was slightly mucky but not all that bad, nice chill in the air too for those of us that like this kind of weather.:)

IMO Turnbull is better after the rain more traction on the incline on the 7th ave side. The new lines making the down more sketchy are a blast.

I hear they closed the dump up there and making that mountain a recreational area.

The dump is visible as you climb 7th. You can pedal over that direction by turning right after the short rocky dh from atop of 7th....its been years since ive been over there, will need to go check it out next ride.

Rode Turnbull this morning. Conditions were excellent! Sticky not slick. Cold though. Frost everywhere!

Stupid question but I never rode 7th street. I've rode turnbull off of Beverly about 100 times but never 7th st. Anyone have coordinates or directions? Better yet a map? Thanks

Bleeding novice, thanks for the map...I've done the 1st climb (skyline), 7th loop and a-line... where is cow trail? Is it the Rose Hill #2?
