Are there any legal (or otherwise) trails in this area? I believe that biking is restricted to paved paths, but I could be wrong. I'll be camping up there this weekend with the family, and you just know I'm going to bring my bike.

I think its restricted to bike paths and roads. You could head over to the national forest and ride there. in the non- desighnetaed wilderness area. Have fun its awsome out there on or off the bike.

I went there about 10 years ago with a bike and couldn't find a thing but I was a rookie then. Of course, I am still a rooki.

Call the rangers. I bet they can help.

Was there last year. Don't miss Moro Rock and go to the end of the road, some nice hikes around the lakes and streams.

There is a section between the two National Parks: Kings Canyon NP and Sequoia NP that is National Forest, in the Buck Rock Fire Lockout area. I did ride some nice fireroads, never found any singletrack. Pedal up to Buck Rock Fire Lookout at sunset...sweet.

They will not let you ride bikes on the paved paths around the big trees. Even the fireroads are marked as off limits to all but authorized personnal. In the National Parks, you will be limited to paved roads and parking lots.

Thanks for the input, guys, but I decided to leave the bike at home. I think it's the first family vacation that I've taken WITHOUT a bike! We still had a blast, though. Beautiful country! It makes me want to go back to Banff again. That place is UNBELIEVABLE!
