Road Ride Report ToC Stage 6 Report

A little bit but better than never. I was reformatting my PC so I had to reinstall everything and I kept putting off putting Photoshop back on.

On Friday, I headed up to meet up with Dave (FFW) to watch stage 6 of the ToC. I got up there around 8:15ish and met Dave at his house. After getting everything set, we headed out to the start about 5 miles away.

It was simply amazing, we were just able to roll up into the parking lot where all the team cars and buses were parked. We rode around that area for awhile looking at all the buses and team cars. We saw Tom Boonen ride right in front of us but he disappeared behind a team bus so I couldn't get a picture.

After seeing the start of the race, we headed off to catch the riders in action. We made out way to where the Big Pine Highway and the 2 meet. Our original plan was to climb the 2 to Inspiration Point so we could see the riders descent then climb up to us. Unfortunately, we were a little slower than anticipated so it was already closed when we got there.

The ride to our spot was simply amusing. The views were awesome and the climbing was great (about 28 miles straight).

The Volvos looked great in Big Bear. I also noticed a lot of VW Passat (?) wagons that also had a great stance with the bikes on top. Two of 'em blew right by me on the way home Saturday morning.
