my hipster philosophy about fixed gears was proven to me tonight. my buddy who is moving to San Fran(which is hipster mecca in my eyes) told me tonight that I need to help him find a fixed gear for when he moves up there b/c he'll need a bike. I asked him whynot get a bike with gears? he says he'll get better exercise with a fixed. my friend does not exercise.

as hip and trendy as they are, they do look cool. I won't hate til I try it out.

That would be pretty funny. Ride around slowly in circles and do stairs and drops off brick walls.

Get over it. We're all bikers and enjoy riding in our own way.

They're riding bicycles! Isn't it cool that riding bikes is trendy? :bang:

It's good for the local bike shops, too.

A dude who works in a office, but dresses up in tight jeans, puts a u-lock in his back pocket, loads his Bianchi Pista up with spoke cards (sorry Bjammin ;)) and does a few laps around his city block purely to look cool (without a helmet).

    Traitor!

How dare you insult my cycling cap!

Don't you know the age old cycling adage:

"Once you go cap, you can never go back"

this is a great take. I also agree with 2wheel and maven's take that bikes (of any type) being cool is a good thing.
