Pat you run this tire in the rear? I am looking for a 2.3 rear cant find a decent climbing tire in this size everything seems to be 2.35" this tire kinda reminds me of a hans damf, just wanted to get your opinion on the way it grips on climbing!!

It's pretty good front or rear - I used to run it F/R on my 26 hardtail. It looks like it resembles a Hans Dampf, but its tread pattern is not as aggressive. It's a lighter, faster tire, admittedly with less grip than an HD. Sidewalls are thin, and so watch it in rock gardens.
The folding bead version can also be set up ghetto tubeless with Stan's and a compressor, but it will leak air faster than other brands I've tried.
As a matter of fact if you want to come get them I have 2 old ones sitting in my garage. 26x2.3, somewhat worn, but should be serviceable. Free, if you want to try them out. PM me if interested.

Thanks Pat, for the feed back and offer, ill buy a tire called performance and at $24 you cant beat that. My nobby nic rear have thin side walls wear super fast i will try the pisgah tire out, gets good reviews" thanks again Pat...
After extensive deliberation between me, myself, and I. I went ahead and picked up a Schwalbe Rock Razor to complement the Hans Dampf in the front.
Dino gave me a detailed comparison and analysis on a range of tires. He asked me more questions than I asked him. He addressed my concerns and corrected me on misguided concern. Thanks Dino!
This tire is fast. I got to ride it at Aliso Woods and in comparison to the HD I previously had it climbed Cholla just as well. It was surprising at first, but it really did climb well. I think it was because I was climbing on the saddle vs climbing out of the saddle due to the drag of the HD tire. The RR speeds up quick.
Today I was able to ride El Prieto my local trail. It gave me a better comparison. Despite the loose and sandy condition of the trail (thanks to trail maintainers its MUCH better than after the rain) it held its grip just fine. Also, I was able to use a higher gear to climb because it just rolled so darn well. Dinos previously reminder to improve my breaking technique by relying less on the rear really allowed the tire to serve its "rolling" purpose.
All in all super fun tire. It didn't get me any KOMs but I had a lot more fun! Ok dinner time. Ciao

Haven't bought new tires since '08, need help selecting a new one.
The last time I bought a tire it was the Panaracer Fire XC Pro, back in 2008. So not too sure what's out there now. I have a 26" XC bike . It's the front tire that's getting replaced and the current one I have is 2.1. So any good recommendations on a tire that is about $40 and under?
