Jose, whats up bro, I won't be able to make this weekend's ride, but I'm down to try that out next weekend.
NO problem!! I hope i do good on this trail b/c it will be my first time doing it.
This is from my friend Rob in case u like to know more about the trail!
Hey all!
I'm the one doing the guiding, we and my few friends who'll be there welcome anyone up for new trails, great to share anytime. I know some of you are coming up from the O.C., I think we might have a few coming from the Santa Monica area as i have some friends in town to check out the
www.redbullrampage.com event over in malibu. One extra thing if you could bring is a radio. We use Motorolas and we default to the day's date for the channel. That day will be Channel 11, code 6 As the group gets bigger things get a little strung out, not to worry, one of us will run sweeper to make sure all are taken care of.
This a FUN trail! So as fro you to gae whether or not this is a trail for you here is a close description... It's steep and fast at the top of Mt Wilson with no real exposure, if you do go off trail there are plenty of trees to grab! (^.^) The middle part will feature some tree roots, switch backs and a rock garden. The lower part will have LOTS of sweeping hillside single track that has been maintained and then this decends into a canope campground with running stream. There are some areas that you DON'T want to fall because it's a LONG way down. Near the end the only climb is a 3/4 mile jaunt that we haul our 40 plus pound bikes up then bomb down the paved road to the trucks!
The second drop is from the Cheney Trail road off of the Wilson Road. We take that about a half mile to the Upper Merril trail. Both of these are hillside single track with nothing really technical. Down that to the middle Sam Merril which takes you down to Mt. Lowe. During this there is one off that you don't want to look at but it's easy to pass. There is a .9 mile traverse back to the Cheney Toll Road, we hop on that for about 70 yards and drop off the side on to a blasting Sunset trail down into Melard Canyon!!! No real hazzards here. From there it's about a mile point five upon a fire road to the entrance to the El Prieto single track. This is a fun x-country type trail that has lots of shade and stream crossings that dumps you out onto the Brown Mt. fire road. Down that for about a couple hundred yards and then you are out onto the paved return road next to JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboritory)
Tired yet??

) Looking forward to Sunday!!!
