Some of you might have heard of a little bike shop out in Corona called the Pedal Smith.

The owner John is a really great guy. The shop is small, but it has that personal touch some other shops don't. When you bring your bike in for service, be it a tube change to a full bike overhaul, John will make sure that you're taken care of. I bring our bikes there when we can't make it to the OC and I can't do the job myself. His rates are comparable to most of the other LBS's that I've visited and whenever I walk in, he treats me like we've known each other for years. If you're ever in Corona by the 15 and Magnolia, stop by and say Hi.

I was in that area many months ago, and I saw the shop while I was at a nearby store, so I stopped in.

John is a really cool guy. He's a Homer, but he also rides and Intense 6.6 (although I think the Turner is his primary steed). But despite being a Homer, he seems like a pretty sharp guy. He says that he commonly rides the San Juan Trail, so many of you may already know him.

His stock on hand is still limited, but he does have some nice stuff in there, including a decent selection of BMX parts. I have been back since my first visit, hoping to see the shop still there (it's kind of hidden). Not only was the shop still there, but their inventory grew quite a bit - and there seems to be a steady stream of customers who are just finding out about the place. If you're local, it could be a good shop to call home.

Yeah, he's good at what he does and he's fast too (working on bikes and from what I hear, riding too!)

I bought a frame and parts from Northshore a while ago and even though I put the bike together myself, I brought it in to John to get it in better shape than I could get it (my first time building a bike). We took my brother's bike in for service expecting to just drop it off and John says that he could finish the job in no time. He completed my brother's bike and two others in about an hour. I kinda felt bad since it was almost closing time and people were still walking into the shop. He said that he doesn't mind staying a little longer as long as the customers are happy (I'm not saying that people who visit his shop should go running in there with a repair or something 30 seconds before they close ;)). While he work working on the bikes, I was able to watch how he did everything and he explained everything in such a way that I could understand what he was doing and why.

Like I said earlier...John's a great guy and has a great little shop.

    PedalSmith bike shop in Corona

:clap:Just wanted to let people know of a cool shop, owned and operated by a one man show, a true mom and pop store selling quality and service. Talked to the owner for sometime and he has been in the industry for awhile and knows his stuff. Give him a shout .

I called them not too long ago for a price on a 2009 Kona Jake the Snake. I was surprised that he quoted me a couple hundred dollars UNDER the price quoted on the Kona website for a 2009. :bang: Most places I called quoted me the price on the website. Too bad he didn't have a 'same as cash for a year' payment plan like other shops do. When they first opened I test rode a Caldera and they seemed real nice and knowledgable.

After several frusterating hours of attempting to install and adjust a set of cranks and derailleurs on my rockhopper I threw in the towel and just brought my bike in to get adjusted. I also had the wheels trued, cables trimmed, and so forth. John ,the shop owner, is a supernice guy and really easy to work with. Will definately give him more business in the future and do recommend stopping by if you need some work done. On a side note, I'm really not suppose to be riding because of a jacked up ankle that I am going to get some work done on so I am sticking to really easy trails for now. Almost forgot, for those of you who have been to his shop, he has actually moved a couple spaces over into a bigger shop.
