Directions to San Juan Trail: From the I-5 in San Juan Capistrano take Ortega HWY (74) East for about 12 miles. Turn left on Camp Road. There is a sign for the Lazy R Ranch as well as a CDF Fire Station on the corner.

 

What do you consider the skill level and conditioning for the San Juan ride?

(been off the bike for a few months and really want to ride)

 

They are always no-drop ride unless stated, the groups are great to ride with - lots of encouragement and fun chatter. Love to meet new people on these rides, a lot of them are not here on STR.

Heads up on San Juan this weekend - LOTS of water, and it's going to be warm. Have Fun :wave:

strobe, it's a good long (7 mi?) grind to Cocktail Rock where the loop starts, but any point that's backtracked from will include great riding and be a worthy trip in itself. Some technical ascending but mostly rutty DG. High traffic days happen on SJT more often than most or all Santa Anas trails. Glad you're getting on your bike...have a great ride!

 

Thnx everyone. I'm not fully healed and should probably keep my pack light as possible. I think I'll do SART for cooler weather and less technical trail. I hope to do this as soon as i get stronger. Have a great ride.
