Having trouble trying to make out your post - Not sure if your being cute, funny or fresh. However in your first post you appeared to be upset with everyone who posted decent conditions, but you got crappy out come and i did post a update. I would not mind having your experience that of muddy conditions and hiking the bike, It would of been good training and a great work out for me. If i miss understood your e-mail please allow me to apologize. Here is a picture of my bike after the ride and i have not cleaned in a month !

    Thank you for your time,

I think he was referring to MY decision not to post an update about the drizzle rolling in. The STT can be a muddy mess during wet conditions to the point where even pushing a bike is hard. Lots of it will blow off on the descent back to Cooks, especially if Live Oak is wet, but it can still be a pain to clean up. He was also accurate in his assessment that descents in wet conditions don't really damage the Luge, based on what I've seen doing maintenance on it for the last 5 years.

Conditions change quickly out there, and the STT can be great in the morning, impossible at midday and fun again in the afternoon. Maybe you guys hit it at slightly different times. Glad you had a good ride, and thanks for the posts! Hope to see you out there,

Yes I am joking around! Not mad at anybody...actually thankful I wasn't advised because I REALLY had fun in the mud. The bike is clean now and ready to go again. I'm very happy we didn't turn around when we had to start hiking because the luge was much less slick than STT.

It's sunny, breezy and cool up here this morning and I got a feeling this is going to be an awesome day up there! Call in sick, quit school, take a 2 hour lunch, get a babysitter-- just get on the trail!

Guess you didn't understand what I said.....it was dry.

If you wanna complain about it....direct it towards those that rode on Monday and Tuesday when it was wet and left tons of tire ruts.

Not a problem on the STT and Luge. I think the trails actually benefit from being ridden when wet. Small rain and tire ruts get smoothed out and loose dirt gets packed down! The only downside is a little trail widening as people go around puddles and muddy spots.. so I'd just recommend trying to stay off the grass. Otherwise, it's all good, and it's a beautiful thing to have trails to ride right after a storm.

PS: I got a little tickle in my throat yesterday and had to leave work early. ;) I was worried that the spots I'd worked on would need some touching up after get rained on and ridden so soon. But they were fine, IMPROVED by being ridden wet, and I sessioned a new little jump and found it to be quite delightful. Cheers!

Mo, thanks for joining me yesterday and doing a bunch of hard work on the STT, even after your 2 laps through Whiting!?! We took care of some long-standing problems and cleaned things up (even added some small berms), then finished off with a ride down the Luge. Dude, you worked hard and I really appreciate it! Your attitude and ideas were well-received. Great meeting you and thanks for the help.

That it is--rode this morning, I was surprised how few puddles there were. Only mud was in the parking lot at Cooks--what a mess.

I'm planning to work on the Luge on Sunday and would welcome any additional help. My main goal is to knock down some brakes bumps, especially if we get some rain tomorrow. PM me if you can join me, and if you need me to bring some extra picks and shovels. Thanks,
    Jim aka kioti

Kioti/Jim, went down the Luge today and thought it was in great shape, was expecting some rain ruts/puddles but just good tacky dirt. Thanks for all your efforts! I can't make it this Sunday but keep posting your planned work days and I will surely help out sometime. (Do you primarily do maintenance just on Luge and SST or other trails too.... ie Joplin, Trabuco, HJ?

^^You're welcome, and I look forward to working with you in the future. The STT and Luge keep me pretty busy, but I've done a fair amount of work in Whiting, too. Thanks for the trail report. Have those sinkholes on the STT opened up yet?

I didn't go past the Luge today but didn't see any sink-hole problems from start of STT to the Luge, just a few puddles easily avoided. Dave

Thanks Dave. The ones I'm watching are developing on the big switchback about 2.5 miles from Modjeska.

Just wanted to thank you for the work out there! I ride STT and luge once a week, the work you have done with the trails and especially the drains have been excellent! Big puddles one day and the next they where drained out and have stayed that way nice job .
