Call it what you want but with DST alive again today marks the now official 2009 season opener to the mid week nuttiness we know and have come to love called Taco Tuesday.

Started last year by SheDevil (Kelly), Dusty (Nan) and I believe some others their small well behaved social tea party quickly turned into a weekly source of on and off dirt carnage and debauchery.

As you may learn, this is a ride where the language is hard core in your face no holding back smack talk ;) while the ride pace is mad crazy stoopid laid back chill (sippin’ on gin & juice :p ).

Join in and you’ll find Old and Young, Experienced and Noobs, XC Racers, Flatlanders, DH’ers. The stable of bikes typically include Big Rigs, AM’s, rigid SS, DJ/Urban bikes and everything in between, I think we even had a few tandems in the mix last year.

The peeps have included some STR celebs:steppie:, the root beer kid (Hugh), a bunch of weekly regulars (clearly they don’t work too hard :) ) but there always seems to be a few new fresh and way cool faces in the crowd.

Riders come from all across SoCal and beyond just to experience what many have called truly undefinable and impossibly forgettable. Unforgettable, unless of course you drank too much.

While clearly everyone has their favorite moments of the past, my personal on dirt smile (at someone elses expense of course) includes the renaming “ceremony” of our very own ChariotsofTires. Let’s just say, well, umm i bet he wont miss that turn again.

So where am i going with all this and what does this mean but...One down baby and a bunch more to follow with the days getting longer.

Being a “big picture guy" others on STR and among this ride are clearly better than I at RR’s and providing the small details that truly make the reports special so while I have minimal ability to match their magic all i’ll say is this.

Overall this ride as simple as it is (Peters canyon thus far which for those not in the know a fairly non-tech mid week shorty ~8 miles) rooooooocks.

The peeps rock
The nuttiness rocks
The tacos rock
The beers rock

And while i am not a big fan of desserts I am told by some very knowledgeable folks that the mud-pies freakin’ rock! (check out Ken's "O" face on the pic below)

That said and before we go to the pics below and footie [EDIT post #13], I will share some of my thoughts on tonights ride.

Life has been crazed and I missed most all the weekday rides since the end of summer. Today’s ride while as simple as it always is was a blast and great seeing some old faces and meeting new peeps on the ride.

While the banter on the dirt among all started off slow (I was getting a bit worried..have we got soft in the off season) I can honestly say it was kicked up a notch or two over dinner. With Doug (solid rider but newbie to this ride) and Rudy (TT OG fo sho) taking that brunt of the verbal abuse it is clear these guys can hang with the funky bunch and our turn in the smacktalk spotlight is just 'round the bend

I will not be able to join in next week (works sux) but hope to once again be a regular among the not so regular craziness known as TACO TUESDAY.

I wish I could remember everyone's name but we had half of the crowd new and the other half veterans. A great mix to start another season.

Everyone went up Big Red and we had very little carnage.

The pedestrian traffic was low but I heard 2 ladies comment that "those are the people from last year" like we were a disease or something. I prefer to think of more as a cure.

Having this ambiguous back injury that is only relieved by riding, I once again was tremendously relieved by time in the saddle. Definitely a cure!

Tim and Danny at the Fish House were so happy to see us they set the table to welcome us back... and a heater for me. Thanks Tim.

Of course the mud pie was "freaken" good, Thanks Ken. \\:D/

Fun Stuff Thanks Adam.

It's great to be back at the HOUSE!!!! Great easy spin to work out the remainder of the lactic acid build up I had in my legs from the CC on Saturday!

Good Ride!
Good Food!
even better people!

Thanks for setting this up!

My RR: simple, I will make it up big red next time. Got 3/4 of the way. Plus I found out 5lbs of air pressure in the rear shock is not enough unless you weigh 20 lbs. That and make sure to tighten you front wheel before you ride. Fish tacos are good. Hewhobendspoles also jumps manholes while checking the phone for locations that have bathrooms with pics and some shamwows.

I'll be back soon enough to break my own personal record of six fish tacos and a mudpie :bang: Disappointed that I missed the season opener........sounds like you all had a blast!

Bummer!

I hate working until 7 on Taco Tuesday nights. Maybe one day I will get sick *cough cough* and join in. ;)

I'll see everyone next week......I'll be my 1st ride in over a month....

MMMMM Shrimp tacos and cold beer.....

I was at Peters Canyon ever since I got off work and was into my 3rd lap around the Park and seen the group so I snuck in from the back and rode part of it. Then i had to go home and take care of some stuff. I'll join again next week and so on when I can. I was in the Grey shirt with the White MkIII.

Hell Yeah

Footie as promised.

Super good times! Great seeing/meeting everyone, I'm a bust next week with work but should be riding after that

Nice video, it looks so much more dangerous when you view it that way... but I am mostly chicken. Peters Canyon is so pretty during "dusk" and the moon rose to greet the feast of tacos. Definitely a totally stinken awesome ride.

Very weird noticed the vid was pulled from utube so reposted via Vimeo

Thanks for the great time last night.

I haven't laughed like that in quite a while. The fish tacos are tasty, the mud pie was VERY good and the double-entendre bashing was first class.

First time to meet Dusty, Adam, Doug and a few others. I'm glad I passed on my regular Loop ride.

I apologize for not sticking around for the whole ride.

I received a voicemail on our way up big red and had to bail after descending the other side.

Barring any work conflicts, I will be back!

The video is killer I had a great time good to see all the regulars and the new faces. I had a blast on the ride and more fun at the after party  :bang: Next week I just need to not talk #-o See you all next week I will be the quiet on and you all better hope you never need to find a 5 star bathroom in a hurry

I'm so jealous. Gabe kept reminding me where he'd be on the trail while he was sitting with me at the Medcenter, he reminders kept getting more frequesnt the longer we sat and waited and waited....."you know we'd be enjoying some mudpie right about now". Hopefully I can venture out next week.

Nice vid! I didn't know you were following me down the face of the dam.
