(R.I.P.) Over the hill
RR: Sunset Fireroad, Baldy Village to La Verne
First off, thanks to ya all for the ride and for Dirty for sharing his B-Day with us.
Sunset Fireroad. This is a point to point ride, starting near Mt. Baldy Village and ending in La Verne. Got to the trailhead at 4pm and heat was never a issue the whole ride.
GPS Readings
17.1 miles
2 hours 13 minutes riding time
45 minutes stopped
34.7 max speed
7.7 average moving speed
1623 feet of climbing
4931 feet downhill
Five of us did the ride: Dirttorpeedo, Sharky, B-rad, Cyclecc and myself. Somewhere along the ride B-rad (Brandon) took off and we never saw him again…I guess we were to slow for him and he needed to get to class by 7. He brought his Singlespeed running 2:1 and is way strong and fast. Note the picture I took of Brandon, I don’t know the story but he is getting his head shaved this weekend at Jensen.
When we got back to the lower parking spot we ran into MTBRacer finishing his Marshall Canyon Ride on his new singlespeed.
The climbing on this ride is gradual and makes for a very enjoyable ride. Views are great and would be outstanding after a winter storm. I think that it would an excellent no lights full moon ride.
