Sunday 8, 2006 Harding - Joplin training ride

Start time at 8.

climbing Harding is a very good test to see where you are at, considering you climb for 12 miles. 24 miles total ride

Meet at Cook's Corner and pedal the short distance to Harding

I think I will pass on this one just did this route on saturday.conditions are good.Joplin isn't really overgrown anymore like it was a couple months ago.Have fun all.

I may go on this ride but will probably skip on Joplin. Matt (ocrider) warns me that it's still overgrown and poison oak and I don't play well at all. Would suck if I got it and was out of training for even a few weeks.

So I'll probably do this . . . join you guys up harding, go across main divide to motorway, down motorway, up maple springs, and down harding. More climbing, more training, less poison oak.

Steve, where are we meeting at? I will be there for this ride, no waking up late for me this time!

I'll be there....

And I'l be even slower than normal(If that is possible...) as I'll be climbing on the Nomad. Rob, bring your RFX/6Pack, it will make going down much more fun. No Whiting for me thanks...

We can add whiting to it if people want a longer ride, but personally right now I think I'm better off not adding whiting.

This should be a good ride although I'm tempted to do the main divide to motorway and up Maple Springs detour that someone mentioned - mind you thats 7500ft of climbing and 30+ miles - ulp!

Lets meet at Cook's Corner that way we can finish off with the Luge and food.

People can shuttle if they want, but with the short distance between the trailheads and the hassle of shuttling I'm going to just ride from cook's to Harding

I'm taking the enduro. Last time I took the flux down Joplin I didn't enjoy it at all.

What is this rumor of poison oak? I'd love to join but Shinken and I are heading to Moab next week and I don't want the itchies for the 24 hour race.....but I do have a bike I need to put some miles on before hand. What is the pace for sunday like?

I rode Joplin in June and there was no poison oak except towards the very bottom towards Old Camp. One person crashed into a bush and got a small amount of Poison Oak on them but apart from that it was good. It was a bit of a mad descent and very technical but quite good fun - we did it at night and I lost count of the number of moths I had in my mouth (they go crazy for HID light!) Hardcore ride :bang:
