Ride Report STR/PATH Bootleg Weekend extravaganza

Wow

When I rolled up he had his wheel off and it looked like he was going to work on it. Then I see Willie rolling away I wasn't sure what was around the corner but I wanted to be there in case of any miss haps. If I knew there was a misbehaving tire I would have stayed. Everyone knows I am always ready to fix a bike or change a tire.
My DT Swiss 440s haver the same rim and I don't even use tire levers. I have them on 2 of my bikes. Is Justin's rear wheel using a larger rim? It looked like the DT Swiss DH wheel.
If it is the same rim as mine tell me what tire is being used so I can stay away from it.

He was probably fine at first... was having a lot of problems getting his tire off his rim (happened twice over the weekend). I think he ended up snapping around 3 tire levers. Took at least 2-3 people to get his tire off the rim in the parking lot Sunday morning. I think Nancy has photos from the patiently waiting shuttle truck :)

It was nice briefly seeing you Saturday morning!

Will you be out at Fontana?

It's their DH rim, I believe. DH or FR. The red rear rim? He was using Nevegal's (I'm sure it's ALL Kenda's fault :D)

Justin, by chance are you using Velox clothe rim tape (or some other clothe rim tape)? I found that with Kendas and DT rims, the clothe rim tape takes up too much room in the middle of the rim to remove the tire. I replaced the clothe rim tape with three wraps of reinforced tape made Kenda tire installation on DT rims much easier.

Then I see Willie rolling away I wasn't sure what was around the corner but I wanted to be there in case of any miss haps. If I knew there was a misbehaving tire I would have stayed and had Willie wait. Everyone knows I am always ready to fix a bike or change a tire.
My DT Swiss 440s have little different rim and I don't even use tire levers. I have them on 2 of my bikes. Is Justin's rear wheel using a larger rim? It looked like the DT Swiss DH wheel. Wait the DH DT Swiss wheel is larger I have them on a bike here at the shop and the tire is a pain with that rim too. There must be a benefit to having larger rims. Maybe it holds a bead better on hard cornering.:-k
Well Now I feel bad not prying that tire off with you.#-o

I have the FR not the DH .

had a great time this weekend riding with all the new peps!
thanks for planning the trip roger & nancy.
thanks for the pics winston & allison, can't wait to ride BC again !!!!
GOOD TIMES!!!!!!!!!!

Great RR, grasshoppers...

Sorry to hear about all the carnage... at least nobody died... I've purposefully not gotten a DH bike as the last time I rode an 8" travel bike, I went entirely too fast and had entirely too much fun! That damn suspension lulls you into a sense of false security, cause you end up thinking you can ride over anything... and sooner or later you find you can't.

On the other hand, the Path still has a couple of Iron Horse DH bikes in the back and Bootleg does look like fun... must.... not.... lust.... after...BIG.... BIKE!!!! Ackkkkk!

WOW That was fun lets do it again next week end at Fontana.
I will possibly race. I didn't do anything to test my shoulder at bootleg like I planed but. Even do the DH it's about having fun I don't have to do well.
I'm wondering if i bring the big tent and everything would they charge me?
We can all use it. I le a team STR kinda thing. I think my F4 is ready that thing rocked at bootleg. The SOCOM is nice but it isn't as smooth.
I was thinking about doing the super D on the XCL. If we plan things right maybe we can set up a little Chumba Super D team with a bunch of XCL's.
Let me know if any of you are interested. If so I will look it to it.
It would be cool to take over the race STR Chumba style.
It will look like some kind of invasion.

I've gotta get in on one of these trips! looks like a blast! :bang:

Looks like I have a reason to hurry up and get a "big bike"... If only I could decide which one :-k

i say again....what a kick @ss trip!!!

anyone else experiencing bootleg withdrawls?? shakes, depression, etc...?? jk.

i am sooo ready to go back...thanks Nancy and Roger!!!!

I'm thinking about planning another trip in December. What's a good date for you?

Wow! Such great photos and ride reports!

It's taken me so long because our neighbor, who was supplying us with free wireless, has apparently moved :(

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know I am OKAY after my cliff diving experience. Luckily, I walked away with a few bruises and a bit of a sore neck, but two days later, I wouldn't even know it really happened. Scared the crap out of me because I haven't crashed in a long time. Apologies for everyone having to see me cry...I feel like a baby...

It was awesome to meet everyone (and see some familiar faces, too)! STR truly rocks (no pun intended) and Bootleg was a great venue for us all to get together.

Denmother & Roger - thanks for putting the trip together and keep all of us in line

Allison & Justin - you guys are a hoot! It was fun to hang with you

Lee - buddy...I may have scared you but you ran right down to help me. Thank you, thank you for pulling me out of there. (I'll forgive you for bringing in the locals at 4 am).

Man blong Gaua - you kicked @ss on the 575!!

Evil Chocula - what are we gonna do with you? glad to hear you are doing better...

Jeff - very fun to ride and hang out with you! hope we do it again soon

Winston - thanks for snapping the pictures

Fired Yo Momma - great to finally meet another smart Sox fan!!

Craig (CalEpic) - also props to you for riding the little bike on the big trails...you are a very skilled rider!

Wille - Much props girl! You are so brave!

Jason - good to see you again...

Luke - glad to finally meet you. I have Chris Shelley's email addy...pm me and I can give it to you

Schlepp - awesome to meet you...hope you are out there again soon.

To anyone else I left out...didn't mean to but there were so many people! You're all good folks and it was really nice to ride with you all.
