ALL 4 bikes recovered!!! Found the Grocery getter at local bike shop

I really wish this was an April fools joke, but unfortunately it isn't. I came home from work this morning and realized 4 of my bikes are gone!!! The Rocky Mountain Element Tribal, the Rocky Mountain Solo 70CR Road bike, the Niner One9 Single Speed & my Rocky Mountain Elevation grocery getter SS.

Please be on the lookout for them on any CL or e-Bay. I live in the South Bay if that is of any help finding them. Just waiting for the police to show up so I can file a report. I do have renters insurance so hopefully I can recoup some losses, but as you all know, these bike were pretty much custom built and there is no replacement for that. I'm sooooo pissed right now, but really crying on the inside! PLEASE SHARE! Thanks!

I live in San Pedro where these were taken if that helps. Thanks

Man... that really sucks. When I see threads like this it makes me wanna keep my bikes inside my house rather than in the Garage.

Dang that sucks. I have the same Niner singlespeed. Your garage broken into or left open or they have/hack a remote? I'll keep an eye on craigslist as I'm looking for a bmx mini for my kid.

I left for work last about 7:30pm and got home this morning about 8:30am. The garage was closed when I left as I wait and see it closed all the way before I drive off. The garage was also closed when I got home this morning. It is a shared tandem(4 cars) with the neighbors downstairs. I can't say for sure if it was left open by one of them, then closed later? They are not home right now.

The maintenance guy will change the code to the keypad and I have filed a police report with the LAPD. I do have renter's insurance so hopefully I can recoup some of the value, but these bikes were not just your normal builds as you can see from pics.

    Thanks all!

So sorry to hear this, Gene. I forwarded this post to a couple large email lists I have, with a link to this post. Hope those bikes turn up, or you at least get treated fairly by your insurance company.

So sorry. I know I am unduly attached to my bikes. The reality is if someone wants your stuff there is little that can be done.

Sorry to hear that you were victimized by some thieves. But I will thank you for the reminder of the zip tie on the garage door. I hope somehow or someway you get your bikes back.

    Absolutely horrible horrible horrible news!!!!

    1. I will personally BUMP this thread (in hopes as many people as possible will view it)
    2. Are there any other sites you can post this info?
    3. I wonder if friends would be willing to post the info on their facebook pages(???)

    4. Do Craigslist, eBay or Pinkbike have "automatic" search features (that notifies someone if an item gets posted)?

    Sorry Gene.

Yes, I have over 100 sharing already. I've been in contact with the detective working this case and he's working on a couple leads. Hopefully I'll have some good news soon. Thanks everyone!

This sucks, sorry to hear! I'll spread the word with the group I ride with every Wednesday night at Del Cerro, some of the guys live in Pedro and frequent Bike Palace.

Bummed to hear it, Gene. Good on you for due diligence. Worst case you get to go bike shopping.

This is the second instance I've heard of recently where a shared storage area was targeted. Lock em up and hope for the best...

    Update on bikes.

Some great news. Yesterday I recovered 2 of the 4 bikes! I get a call from some dude asking to cash in on a reward of $1000 if bikes were found. He told me he bought them for $300 ea and just wanted what he spent. I asked him how he got my number and he said the pawn shop. I did leave my info at the pawn shop and checked with them so that story checked out. I call my buddy from high school who is LAPD and was working the case about this guy and he tells me to get some more info on where this guy would meet, then he(my buddy) text me that they are on their way to a another lead they received about my bikes. 30 minutes later my bro tells me they have a guy in custody! Turned out the guy who I spoke with was the same guy they were on their way to see. My buddy sends me these pics so I can verify that those were mine

My road bike seems to be ok, just the saddle bag missing

The tribal had the frame decals removed. They also damaged the rear brake line when they used solvents to remove the decals so it'll need to be replaced. The CB pedals will also need to be replaced cause they no longer have the springs in them . They removed them in order to still use without clipping in.

The scumbag who got arrested told the cops that "he heard" the Niner is at a pawnshop. Chances are he was the one who sold it to the pawnshop and was trying to sell me the 2 they didn't buy, but who knows for sure?

Rewind to Thurs when I went to the pawn shop to spread the word about my stolen bikes. While I was there, some other guy overheard me mention Rocky Mountain and he said that someone tried to sell him a red RM Wed night. He calls the guy a tells him he found a possible buyer and had that guy text him a photo. Here is that photo. Yes there was a number attached, but it is a "floating" cell number so it led to no one. I did get the address of this guy and first name, but no last name or apartment number. I've given all this info to the police and hopefully they are working on getting a last name and apt number and this bike back to me soon.

    Thank you LAPD!
