Simple poll - ban steven jackson or let him stay? Poll will go until Monday when the sentence (if any) will be carried out.

Is it actually a separate member, or does "Steven Jackson" have multiple IP addresses that match other regular member IP addresses?

    Just curious. :)

I've always assumed it's other people here (or one person) and not someone separate.

Yes, it would change my poll response.

I think SJ needs to do more ride reports. I was hoping for SJ hits interbike to review all the new stuff you don't really need. :)

Although I don't understand the Steven Jackson thing, I haven't seen him do anything offensive worthy of being banned. Sometimes his comments are a bit off the wall and unrelated, but so what? I've derailled many threads, I've thrown in useless and stupid comments, and I know I've offended a few people on this site. But life goes on, and no one's life is really any worse off (except for that one guy in HB who I'm sure gets really stressed out and pissed off at some of my comments - but my intentions are good, though).

Unless someone can show otherwise, I don't think there is any good reason to ban him.

Yeah, I feel the same way as allison. I think the fact that we are having a poll about this says that Steven Jackson is someone's alter ego. We wouldn't do this for a "regular" member.

The Steven Jackson posts regularly violate STR rule 1. Be respectful. I know it is name of humor, but not long ago S. Jackson "threatened" to send someone to the hospital. The post was removed I think, but people have been banned for less. Yes, I know it was a joke, but some may not see it that way.

I think it would be cool in the future to have a STR report team at major races or bike events. You can have Steven Jackson as a reporter. It would be so funny to have this big azz dude going and interviewing bike companys and racers. Kinda like a older stuttering john from the Howard Stern show.

Lee, I think it's come up before that members are only supposed to have one user name?

I could be wrong about that, but I thought I read that somewhere...

FWIW, I took someone's advice and put him on my ignore list. So, I guess it doesn't matter to me either way :D

Do you mean that SJ is an alias used by one or more current members or non-members? If you ban by IP then who gets banned - all alias users including members?

Anyway he's way down on my list of things to fix. I thought he was real and I am looking forward to taking over Fully Loop.

I wouldn't want the members banned... I think he's just asking about retiring the username?

If you don't like him, add him to your ignore list. Otherwise, what's the harm?

when the decision was made to monetize the site, I think the final nails went into the coffin of things like SJ.

I didn't know about the multi-faced Steve Jackson (multiple IPs).

George, how about this: Make note that you will ban all imitating IPs (assuming there is a real SJ), and simply ban all these IPs.

On the other hand, I don't really care. As others mentioned, if he (they?) bother you, putting people on "ignore" is always a viable solution.
