Hey guys I sprained my ankle snowboarding two weeks ago and the docter gave me a removable cast. I still cant walk on it and was wondering if anyone has had experience with an ankle injury. What remedies/ exercises did you do to speed recovery?
I really do miss snowboarding, basketball and mtn biking !!! grrrr

I was just wondering about where you were the other day. I know how depressing not being able to get out there and ride feels like (just got over PO again). Hope you get better.

Ice wont do a lot at this stage. Ice is good for the swelling which occurs a couple days after the injury.

But mostly rest and a couple 50milers rides should speed the healing process;)

2 weeks ago? Ibuprofen if it starts throbbing, and elevate it whenever you're sitting. Having broken both ankles, my advice is to enjoy the time off. Staying off it means staying off it. Believe me, I've pushed my recovery times and it's not worth the additional healing time from doing something premature (like a 50-miler, [-X ). Given the colors of the bruising, I'd say look into sports-rehab. Performance Chiropractic (Jamboree & 405) are experienced with athletic injuries, and maintenance afterward. Hope this helps. Crutches suck but you'll be back on the bike before you know it.

Heat then Ice. Stick your ankle in a hot bath tub for 4 minutes, then ice for 10 minutes (then do it once more). Do that twice a day. The idea is to increase blood flow in and out of the area, which is supposed to reduce the healing time. I have hurt myself so many times either running or while in the Army.

some of the aboves are good heat/ice and a massage on the area.that helps with blood flo to the area.that should bring you to a happy ending! professionally speaking of course. but then you should have known.

    Quick fix

    R-I-C-E

    Rest - Ice - Elevation – Compression

I twist my ankles all the time.[-X Don’t heat it up because it will cause more swelling, and that is actually what really hurts. Your tendons have very small clearances between bones and other muscles, when you twist your ankle fluid rushes to the area and creates preasure; That Damn throbbing sensation. So when ever you can sit down raise your foot above the level of your heart, wrap it TIGHT in an Ace bandage ( but not too tight), and put ice in a Ziploc bag over and under it.

If all else fails, find a dude from Samoa and ask him if he knows how to do “fo-foe.” I had this done to my ankle after I dislocated it while I was in New Zealand 8-[. The Process hurts worse than that bruise I got on “Three B*itches” but I was back to normal function in 24 hrs. Leave it to Islanders who don’t have ICE to figure out how to do it the hard way.
