my bicycle is nothing to brag about, i just take it into sport authority in torrance and have paul work on it...i think he does a decent job, seems to know a thing or two...but yeah parts can take forever....on my recent ride through the loop i totally bent my back rim..so paul will have to fix that, also i bent 2 teeth on my front...gears? so is that going to be a problem too? sorry i dont know the proper names for bike parts!
Those two teeth are chainring teeth. That could mean that your shifting gets sloppy (maybe you don't even use that chainring/gear though?). If you never even shift into that bigger chainring you probably don't have to worry about it anytime soon.
True dat... I know a guy that wants to ride really bad but is waiting to save up for something nice. I say the heck with that....get something..anything...and just GO OUT AND RIDE!!:bang:
me and a friend took a girl he worked with out on the loop and all she had was a *gasp* kmart level bike and a helmet that didnt really fit, but dammit!! she did the entire loop NO PROBLEM! Quite amazing...
the scary part is how well she'll do when given a lighter better bike! there's something to be said about walmat/kmart bikes...makes you tough
The rim might just need a good true... and the chainrings can be bent straight in a pinch... Hard to say without seeing the bike in person...
its funny because i never thought my gears shifted correctly, maybe its just me...but yes it is my second one! ahh...so now when i ride it, peddle, it totally feels like nothing is going on!!! i had to finish the loop on like 1 and 4 the rest of the way...yes i know i should not have rode on my bent rim!!!!
For the record... This Paul does not work at the Sports Authority in Torrance or any other bike shop...!!! #-o Thought I would try to protect my good name for a lil while longer!!:bang:
oh yeah...sorry, i should of made it very clear, the paul at torrance does not ride at all...he's just a bike tech that is very curious about bike maintance stuff....and the laws of the road...for instance you need a horn to ride in torrance, who knew?
