I had a lot of fun out there with Denmo, Roger and others, and managed to stay in one piece through it all. Thanks you guys for showing me around. I've never ridden here before, and wouldn't have known where to go otherwise.

The DH course is a pretty challenging one, but I had a lot of fun lapping it (but without "race" pressure). The Super D wasn't marked so I couldn't do any of that. Descender, there's definitely some off-camber stuff, worse on the last turn of the upper section of the sport course.

thanks for the course info nancy! hopefully we get enough rain tonight to saturate the course enough for the weekend.

kanga, are you actually gonna race? or are you just gonna come practice and hang out with people?

I will be there to race XC on saturday. Don't have a rear brake (well I do but I have no pad left) and I have almost no front brake pad left, but enough to get me through a few miles.

Bryguy, I think I'm just gonna hang out and enjoy the company and go for a ride. I might even let them give me a number and time me, but I'm just going for a ride...:)

I'm sitting in my truck at the bottom of the course, and it just started raining lightly about a half hour ago. Light, steady, soaking type of rain so far. No downpours yet.

I'm in the dark here, you want rain? Isn't that cause of the ruts? I was out there last week and those ruts are deep and knarles.

    Denmother,
Why is the Beg/Sport course more technical? Actually, that would play into my hand, cuz I sure as hell couldn't keep up with these guys that train everyday!:bang:

I don't know about the Sport/Beg course as I didn't ride it. I heard it was really rutted. Word on the street is no more groomed courses (2nd hand info).

The only difference on the sport/beg course was two smaller rocky drops and a rutted/bermed turn into an off-camber exit.

I have a video up on Facebook (uploaded overnight) of the course pre-ride on the expert course. Not sure if it will embed here, but I set it to public so anyone could see it (you probably have to be logged in to facebook, and look for my profile). For some reason youtube wouldn't do the upload over my phone tether.

Someone tell Donny the last few coarses (2 and 3) that were groomed were pretty sweet. This coarse sucks. No speed and no good flow. But thats just my opinion. But anyways, anyone got any hydrolic brake line housing i could buy off them? I tweak'd my brake line on a lil spill i took.

in all honesty, I think that this is a really good course (for the pro/ex at least). there's a few off camber things up top, but nothing unmanageable. the cornering on top is great, fast, and flows really well. just gotta pull hard oout of that tight righty.

granted, the run-in to the saddle is terribly flat, and it takes a LOT of pedal power to get up with any speed, but if you can suck it up and hit that rutty section fast going into it, it's not too bad.

once you drop out of the saddle, though, it's game on. techy, tight, good. along with everyone else, I am a hater of the 'flintstone' rock shelf, and the corner directly before it (they are THE worst part of the course). thing is, though, that the rest of the course is fun. it's challenging to go fast takes a good bit of finesse.

but still, I wadded a little hard going into the expert split (dug a wheel and had a 10ft fall to my face). split open a finger and bruised the lower end of my femur, so I may be sitting out the racing tomorrow. we'll see though...

    cya guys tommorrow

Its 545, and I'm typing this trying to keep the puss and blood off the table before I re-bandage myself. I think yesterday was a rough one for quite a few of us

For any of the XC racers, does anyone know who was taking pictures on the backside of the loop? The guy had a remote flash and was on the steep rock roll in thing. Seems like that would be a cool photo spot, so hopefully he has a website.

On another note, that was a fun race, it was my first race back from taking 6 years off, seems like I'm out of shape a little bit. Don puts on a very good race. I'll definitely be out for more!

Can't make the DH at Southridge this weekend, but the last couple races the course has been perfect and traction is optimal....this time should be no different.
