Ride Report Southridge #4

Congrats to everyone that made it out to ride or watch.
I enjoyed this DH course so much during practice, that I decided to race (think some others did the same thing). I even left my beloved 200lb+ class, with the goal of ensuring a clean race run.

Thanks and congrats again to all.

And what would a DH race be without a little carnage?

This is my friend David. First time on a DH race. Did pretty well until the lower rock garden!

He's game though, he wants to come back and do it again!!!:bang:

So, the 4X race report. I'm not a big fan of writing about myself, so I'll stick with the epic racing that was Julia and Roger's day!

Despite the cloud cover, it was actually pretty warm. The track's been through some changes since last I'd seen it, but one of the best changes was the new start gate. I loved it. It really made for some great starts. I even like the new race brackets.

Before it all began, I hit the track with Julia a couple of times and she looked dialed! Seriously. She's nice and smooth through out the track (and got smoother when she dropped the pressure suit-it was bonking her head around when ever she turned). I was well impressed with how her riding has evolved since I last saw her.
I even had the chance to pump race with Julia and she rocked the track. (I, uh...pedaled out of habit in one of the berms-so...I'macheater. Sorry.)

The racing got started at about 230pm and Julia and Roger were ready to rock the gate.

Julia's first race had her out the gate and down the track all the way in first. It was great. You should have seen the smile on her face when she was walking back up the hill. She said, "I was really worried."

The 2nd run down the hill had Julia in 2nd, but she high lowed the lead gal and it was on to the finish. Another 1st place!!!

Roger had a HUGE bracket of guys to push through for his racing. He was really holding his own through the track and in one race, I'll have to post the picture, had him going for a pass and it was looking great until he bumped into a wall on wheels. They crashed into one another and it looked like Roger was about to recover and pedal past that other rider, but his clips weren't agreeing with his shoes and the other guy got away. It was a tense couple of seconds there.

Man, I was well impressed with that start gate and the racing brackets (I was going against some young guns-way outside my age range) made for some fun racing. I made some new friends and, if I just lived a little closer, would be there for the next race! Until then, I'll see you guys on the 28th of March for the US Cup race!

Speaking as the "wall on wheels" (which cracks me up by the way!LOL!), that race was sooooo much fun! This was my first ever 4X race and I had a blast! I remember why I used to love the Dual Slalom in the old Cal. State Series at Big Bear.

Thanks for giving me the warm welcome everybody, especially you Roger, I will be back!

No Dino, didn't see sharky, but that's not saying much. I mean, I had a rather improbable crash on a flat, easy section...#-o
