God, I remembet hearing this as it happened, That was one hell of a loud ass thud. Little advice next time this happens, Ledt go of the bars a bit sooner, That way you dont scoop up three inches of dirt with your helmet.

I added a bit to the shot, I thought it was appropriate

my favorite part of that crash was everyone saying sit down bro... sit down... haha!!!

you just spit out the dirt, fixed your visor, grabbed your bike, then best of all, whip it over the drop.

crazy

I'm not trying to derail this thread BUT....

Sean should consider himself quite fortunate to have NOT been seriously injured!
No pads
... High speed and rocks are a recipe for disaster!!! :(

If not for my protective gear, I would have been SERIOUSLY injured twice last year. On one occasion, I crashed (at speed) into a boulder with my forearm. What do you think would have happened had I NOT been wearing my gear? :-k

If my friend had been wearing protective gear, we would not have had to take him to the hospital (with a compound fracture).

If you choose to NOT wear gear, that is your business.
If I choose NOT to post your photo, that is my business!!!

I know... It's a free country! #-o

So I had a bit of a different race weekend. I had some prior obligations on Sunday so I decided I would try my first Super D race.

Having never done one I figured I would ditch out of work early and preride the course Friday afternoon.

EEEEHHHHH!!!!!! No I wont it wasn't marked yet. Well I decided to get on a short xc ride and try a couple ups and downs that I know they've run before. After that I met up with a couple guys and reviewed some of the expert/pro course lines until the sun went down.

During that evening I got to meet a special guest we had at southridge I hope other people got to meet too. Norwegian Downhill Champ and # 113 on the UCI DH WC last year Espen Johnsen (commencal/fox) and a couple of has countrymen. Great guys and super cool to get a different view on fontana racing.

Back to my RR:
Saturday comes and I got to preride the course a couple times, and had a great outlook for my race run. Had great weather right up until the start. We're all lining up waiting our turn. Down comes the rain and up with the wind WTF it was cold as a witches tit. The first single track down to the watertank and around to sandbag hill went great hit good lines and thought all was well. Got to the second single track and discovered my tires don't turn very well on a slick surface. Got to the back strech (fenceline on the XC course) and discovered I didn't have the legs that I thought I did. Almost got caught on the hill but found that extra gear to push me through the finish. Wish I would have practiced the finish area tight slick turns tough to make with a dual-crown fork.

Finished 8 or 9 with a 6:46 +/- But I'm excited to train harder instead of just trail ride and hopefully be competitive.

:-k I'm gonna go with nothing at all. 3 mph may be what YOU consider "at speed" but we call it walking. 8-[

The final few...

Julia- I don't find the humor in not wearing a helmet
*She crashed once... I have proof!

If this pic isn't reason enough to wear a full face... #-o

Taking a handlebar "to the chest" hurts ALOT more without pads
* By the way, very nice elbow scrape

A little "young" to be riding without pads... Don't cha' think? :-k

Then again, it's a free country!
